So Long
Thanks, Duncan! I'm thankful for all your great writing and the movies you've turned me on to - for me it goes all the way back to enjoying the Apu trilogy and other treasures at the Unicorn, thanks to you. And yes, I'll miss your thoughts on upcoming Coen brothers movies - it's always fun to have the "key" to their weird little tropes and phrases that you find. All the best for your future, Mark Wooton— November 18, 2010 10:26 a.m.
Moores, Cronies to Pay about $55 Million in Peregrine Settlement
Thanks Don, for all you do to expose the *stuff* that pols and the connected keep doing to the rest of us San Diegans. It's better to know than to not know (but it is discouraging sometimes). Keep up the good fight!— October 22, 2009 2:19 p.m.
Chargers Won’t Fulfill Desires in San Diego
Response to post #3: Yes, the changes to the Stadium were supposed to be good enough to continue getting Super Bowls. And when Pete Rozelle was commissioner, it was good enough: he seemed so happy he looked like a kid in a candy store with the first one SD hosted. But then the NFL bait-and-switch began when Tagliabue came along: in contrast to Rozelle, he looked he'd just eaten a turd sandwich when he bagged on the stadium (during Super Bowl week), promising San Diego we'd never get Super Bowl without a new stadium. So, anyone who thinks another dime of San Diego public money should go to support billionaire owners and the NFL is a fool. I will wave bye-bye when the Chargers pull up stakes for LA in a year or two - it will be sweet. Maybe the city can start using the savings to fix a road or two..— September 14, 2009 11:13 a.m.
