Little black book
This was not a love story - and had you taken the time to do more than just regurgitate the statements made in Court, perhaps you would have seen that. Had you been wiling to look beyond the fact that Crain was a transgendered prostitute then perhaps you would have discovered that she struggled with depression, was dyslexic, survived sexual abuse at an early age, and wanted nothing more than to be loved and accepted for the person she was. Had you cared enough to take the time to get to know Crain through more than statements from the person who killed her - forensic reports - and police evidence - then perhaps you would have discovered that those of us whom she considered family, saw a sweet caring, person that was always there and willing to help. Did it ever occur to you ( or perhaps your editors) to take the time to reach out to the people who knew and loved Crain? The details that you included were unnecessary and not at all how those of us who really knew her want her to be remembered. Shame on you - Eva Knott!!! You had the opportunity to really make a statement about the life of some who meant so much to so many people - but you chose instead to take the low road. The only people really interested in reading your article were the those of us who cared about Crain - we certainly did not want or need many of the details that you provided. Crain brought laughter, color, comedy, friendship, and love into the lives of many, you could have written about or at least included those aspects (or rather details about her) but you did not. Funny thing is, she said many times that nobody really cared about "people like her." She had lost many of transgendered friends because (in her words) "nobody really cared about them enough to see them as anything other than transgendered prostitutes." Sadly, your article validates her statement and is why so many (like her) feel and believe the same thing. If you don't care enough to take the time to do your job - then perhaps you should consider leaving it to someone more willing to do more than just the bare minimum.
