Dems pass retroactive bill to block recall of state senator Newman
There are so many problems with this article - first of all - Newman wasn't the deciding vote. The Republican senator from Merced was. Also, a recall is meant to happen when an elected official has done a scandalous act - not because s/he voted for a bill. We have elections for that. Recall is also not meant to be used as a political machine. Recalling someone to take the supermajority away is plain unethical. Again, we have elections for that. And lastly - the signature gatherer were down-right lying to people to gather signature. The new bill ensures that they cannot do that. So I do not see anything wrong with "every petition signature to be validated individually rather than a percentage sampling".— June 23, 2017 7:12 p.m.
