Open your ears
I hear ya, man! Coltrane still sounds fresh, too. Even after all these years. Chad, Tony and Miff are all doing a service to the community by exposing them to creative music.— July 26, 2013 2:13 p.m.
Jason Robinson: Tiresian Rapture @ Dizzy's
"peeling" - 'to strip the skin or the bark or rind from'. "pealing"- 'the loud ringing of bells' I'll stick with my version.— March 4, 2013 11:58 a.m.
The appeal of 98 Bottles
Hey Chad, Thanks for the shout-out! I practically lived at 98 Bottles last year. Steve, Jill and Chris are very cool people.— January 11, 2013 1:54 p.m.
Michael Dessen Trio: Resonating Abstractions @ Space4Art
Ahh, the eye of the beholder, and the ear of the behearer...I use *disturbing* to indicate a balance between a program that transcended mere beauty--and violence (anger) to assign a tangible quality to episodes of great tension. Was particularly happy to see you there, my firend, and thanks for the feedback!— December 1, 2012 4:52 p.m.
Joshua White Quintet: Boiling at 98 Bottles
Thanks David! I'll take that as a big compliment from a guy who reads as much as I can tell you do, based on some of those FB posts. Yeah, you missed a great concert. Joshua is the real deal. I feel fortunate to be able to witness his journey...— June 26, 2012 4 p.m.
Women In Jazz at the Museum of Making Music, March 31

Fattburger Was a Garage Band Once
I borrowed a friend's c-melody briefly. He had found it in a dead relatives house. I loved that sound, altho I really wanted a tenor. My good friend, Tom Scott, played in the Crawford music program with Hollis and all of those talented cats. Nice article!— January 28, 2012 10:21 a.m.
Sold Out Crowd Takes in "Dr. Einstein's Spin"
Sorry you missed it too. He did tell the story about "Bombscare Blues". They were doing a concert at a North County junior college, when someone called a bomb-threat in. The evacuation actually prevented them from performing (the string consort) but it did inspire the name for the previously un-named blues. Thanks for your interest!— December 14, 2011 8:15 p.m.
Age Is Just a Number
Thanks for noticing!— December 11, 2011 9:28 p.m.
