The Unbearable Lightness of Bee-ing

Awesome. Reminds me of Kingsolver's "Poisonwood Bible", where the missionaries couldn't figure out why the seeds they planted and the plants that grew from those seeds weren't bearing anything. Well, duh, the insects from other continents didn't know what those strange plants were and didn't pollinate them! Great lessons in something we take for granted.

No Photos!

In Mexico, it's similar except that "public places" is up for interpretation. I snapped a few shots of a fruit cocktail cart several years ago and was practically assaulted. While the street is a public place, apparently the cart is a private business. Hands go out, palms opened. I told the dumbass that my shot of his cart was worth more than a few dollars, but he wouldn't have any of it. Another time, I went to the old Caliente track with a few pals visiting from other regions. We were all photo-happy, snapping shots of us from inside of the rusted starting gates that were still on the grounds at the time. Armed security held us for a time. They let us go because apparently we weren't worth the effort (read: we didn't care to give them any money). Now, whenever I go for photos in a place that could be suspect, I take Anna and hand her the camera. She knows the drill. "What, I'm just a kid, taking pictures!"

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Douglas Adams is beyond timeless. All of his books. Never saw this flick, never wanted to, there is no way to make the book any more entertaining. That being said, with Duncan, it isn't whether or not he likes a film, or how obviously incorrect he sometimes is in his analysis, it's in the adverbs and adjectives. "The trendy, youthy, culty Douglas Adams book..." Never mind there is no such word as "youthy". Not even "culty". Adjective invention is the thing when reviewing movies. And I have to hand it to Duncan, he's one hell of an inventor. Or, in Duncan-speak, he's inventy.

I've run across this quite a few times in Mexico. Of course, here, it's all about money. You can explain how much value your photography has in terms of potential business, based on your readership, and so on, but in Mexico, they expect cash in hand. I've had several very interesting encounters, including one with a man wearing a gun.

San Diego’s pension fund expects to earn 7.75 percent a year

Okay guys, look, having access to a server doesn't mean much. If Admin looks at comments, they are going to know only two things that people don't have access to. First, they are going to know your email address. That is how you sign up for an account here to be able to comment. From your email address it is possible to know who your ISP is MAYBE, or maybe not. Second, the server logs comments and likely stores your IP address. Again, the only thing this information reveals in the long run is one's ISP. The only possible personal information that ADMIN could have would be your internet service provider and your general location. Your ISP cannot release any information about you without a subpoena. So, even if ADMIN wanted to, other than the information that has been given here, there really isn't any personal information to be shared.
