Pinpoint Forecasting, San Diego Style
There are minor league teams already in Everett, Spokane, Tacoma, Yakima, Eugene (Padres short-season A- club), and two others in the Tri-Cities area, which is close to Walla Walla. I'm afraid that Washington is saturated. But undoubtedly, wherever the Padres AAA affiliate moves, the name will be different. Unless there are beavers nearby.

O.J. Obama and Dr. Laura--Different Rules Apply
I heard the tape. She should be reprimanded for utter and complete stupidity, not racism. She was attempting to point out the "N" word is used by black people and so why shouldn't it be used by everyone? So, she proceeds to use it over and over again for effect. This is just as stupid as an African American using the word over and over again for effect. The word doesn't offend me racially, it offends me intellectually. If Obama used that word, would he be a racist? Of course not, he would simply be an idiot. There isn't a reason for an intelligent person to use that word, regardless of whether or not it is deemed as derogatory NOW, because at one time it certainly was used by racists; there isn't a point to using the word at all. In other words, Dr. Laura is an idiot. May she not allow the door strike her buttocks on the way out.

Lube Check
"You can lower legal BAC as far as you want, even to the point that 1 drink would be illegal, but you can’t legislate against bad judgment." Very intellgent observation. In Mexico, the law is this: It is illegal to drink and then drive. Period. No legal limits. It doesn't stop people here from drinking and driving. I will say that, empirically, the number of alcohol-related accidents isn't any higher here than in the U.S. Of course, if you cause any accident here and the other party is affected in any way, the police will take you to jail unless you are insured. If the other party is injured (or worse), the police will take you to jail regardless of insurance. When they are satisfied that whatever legal fees or other restitution to the other party is paid, then they will bring you before a judge and fine you for causing an accident. I realize this is a screwy system compared to the other type of screwy system in the U.S., but I think that without it, there would be a lot more accidents here.

Unstoppable
I'm curious - what leads you to believe that the UFL is actually trying to compete with the NFL? I didn't see it that way last year, and I certainly do not now. It's simply this: After the boys of summer are gone, what else is there on a Tuesday night? People with money shoot craps. Sometimes they even make their roll. And even if they don't, apparently, their bankrolls can handle the loss. Meanwhile, it's football, right? Hookers and booze. They'd spend their money anyway on that sort of entertainment. And, you know, some people will actually gamble on these games, right? Some people actually bet on the Pro Bowl. Imagine that.

@ #63: The Beavers will share the Lake Elsinore Stadium with the Storm in 2011, that's a done deal. According to my sources, Minor League Baseball will not allow that contract to continue into 2012. If a stadium (or perhaps, an existing stadium) can't be built/leased prior to the opening of 2012, the Padres only option at this point is to play in their facilities in Arizona. This may change at the drop of a hat. If I find anything out between now and then, I'm sure Don will write something close enough to the point where I can insert the comment with no retribution from the powers that be.

Gay Paper Suspended, but Sends Money for Back Taxes
"If that's the case, the DA should go after ALL media in the county that bloat their circulation and reach numbers." I hate to say this, but those of you who know, know, there isn't a daily, weekly, or monthly publication that doesn't stretch (at times, wildly so) their circulation numbers. That's the basis in which they advertise. It's sort of like the POTUS approval rating, always higher than it really is.

Pinpoint Forecasting, San Diego Style
There are minor league teams already in Everett, Spokane, Tacoma, Yakima, Eugene (Padres short-season A- club), and two others in the Tri-Cities area, which is close to Walla Walla. I'm afraid that Washington is saturated. But undoubtedly, wherever the Padres AAA affiliate moves, the name will be different. Unless there are beavers nearby.— August 20, 2010 6:05 p.m.
O.J. Obama and Dr. Laura--Different Rules Apply
I heard the tape. She should be reprimanded for utter and complete stupidity, not racism. She was attempting to point out the "N" word is used by black people and so why shouldn't it be used by everyone? So, she proceeds to use it over and over again for effect. This is just as stupid as an African American using the word over and over again for effect. The word doesn't offend me racially, it offends me intellectually. If Obama used that word, would he be a racist? Of course not, he would simply be an idiot. There isn't a reason for an intelligent person to use that word, regardless of whether or not it is deemed as derogatory NOW, because at one time it certainly was used by racists; there isn't a point to using the word at all. In other words, Dr. Laura is an idiot. May she not allow the door strike her buttocks on the way out.— August 20, 2010 5:41 p.m.
Lube Check
"You can lower legal BAC as far as you want, even to the point that 1 drink would be illegal, but you can’t legislate against bad judgment." Very intellgent observation. In Mexico, the law is this: It is illegal to drink and then drive. Period. No legal limits. It doesn't stop people here from drinking and driving. I will say that, empirically, the number of alcohol-related accidents isn't any higher here than in the U.S. Of course, if you cause any accident here and the other party is affected in any way, the police will take you to jail unless you are insured. If the other party is injured (or worse), the police will take you to jail regardless of insurance. When they are satisfied that whatever legal fees or other restitution to the other party is paid, then they will bring you before a judge and fine you for causing an accident. I realize this is a screwy system compared to the other type of screwy system in the U.S., but I think that without it, there would be a lot more accidents here.— August 20, 2010 4:52 p.m.

Unstoppable
I'm curious - what leads you to believe that the UFL is actually trying to compete with the NFL? I didn't see it that way last year, and I certainly do not now. It's simply this: After the boys of summer are gone, what else is there on a Tuesday night? People with money shoot craps. Sometimes they even make their roll. And even if they don't, apparently, their bankrolls can handle the loss. Meanwhile, it's football, right? Hookers and booze. They'd spend their money anyway on that sort of entertainment. And, you know, some people will actually gamble on these games, right? Some people actually bet on the Pro Bowl. Imagine that.— August 20, 2010 3:06 a.m.

@ #63: The Beavers will share the Lake Elsinore Stadium with the Storm in 2011, that's a done deal. According to my sources, Minor League Baseball will not allow that contract to continue into 2012. If a stadium (or perhaps, an existing stadium) can't be built/leased prior to the opening of 2012, the Padres only option at this point is to play in their facilities in Arizona. This may change at the drop of a hat. If I find anything out between now and then, I'm sure Don will write something close enough to the point where I can insert the comment with no retribution from the powers that be.— August 19, 2010 9:18 p.m.
Gay Paper Suspended, but Sends Money for Back Taxes
"If that's the case, the DA should go after ALL media in the county that bloat their circulation and reach numbers." I hate to say this, but those of you who know, know, there isn't a daily, weekly, or monthly publication that doesn't stretch (at times, wildly so) their circulation numbers. That's the basis in which they advertise. It's sort of like the POTUS approval rating, always higher than it really is.— August 19, 2010 9:05 p.m.
