San Diego City Council accused of over-sized pay raise
Practically speaking; each and every city council member knew the salary when they campaigned for the job. Practically speaking one does not need much of a salary because the office is used as a stepping stone to a more lucrative career as a lobbyist. Practically speaking; a high salary is never touted for public service. It is not needed to "attract good people." Do gooders have a long history of ignoring salary to do, good. I respect Bob but he's barking up the wrong tree salary wise.— May 7, 2008 2:52 p.m.
Will and I got married for the extra $1452 Navy pay
I dunno. Still smells like fraud to me. Fraud is bad but the writer is correct in that she agreed the bad was already in her. It's just military conditions allowed it to flower. Here's a radical thought; why not pay those in the military an actual living wage? I realize one needn't pay extra for menial jobs. However, if those doing the lousy jobs are doing them away from their family, the G.I. bill is not enough of a "treat" to join. So pay a living wage and get on with it. Then fraud wouldn't be so attractive.— May 7, 2008 2:44 p.m.
Tough guys
People don't get records sealed to protect their children. People find friendly judges to seal their records so the public is prohibited from learning who they are, and their spouse is prohibited from learning about financial transactions. Check out Ron Burkle's actions at www.FamilyLawCourts.com/burton.html But as far as drunken police officers. Yawn. Old news. See www.BadCopNews.com— May 6, 2008 8:35 a.m.
Sanders's Flack Bombarded Friendly Media with Anti-Aguirre Hit Pieces
I guess Fred, who was right there, was too busy laughing to actually coordinate his latest goof. But the real question is who believes anything that comes out of Fred's mouth? I really don't know why media bothers contacting Fred for his sound bites, unless they're too tired, lazy or bought off. Seriously, what would be the point of contacting this idiot? But then, investigative reporting isn't something San Diego readers are typically used to reading. I mean, jeez. If Cunningham, hadn't stupidly signaled his corruption by buying a huge property in Rancho Santa Fe, (RED FLAGS FLAPPING IN THE BREEZE) odds are he'd probably still be in office.— April 24, 2008 12:20 p.m.
Straight-Talking Financial Journalist Herb Greenberg Leaving the Field To Go into Research
well, here's hoping Herb had an Intern or something to, ummm, bloom.— April 24, 2008 12:10 p.m.
Scenes from a divorce
Politics and divorce and judges, have always gone hand-in-hand. California Lawyer exposed former Judge Howatt butchering Betty Broderick, (for which the court of appeal overturned his rulings) and also that Betty was litigated into craziness. Turns out old Dan was grabbing community assets. So Dan got his name in gold, (at the courthouse) having been represented by Thomas Ashworth - who later became a not very well respected judge...and Betty will sit in prison forever, having bucked the attorney rainmakers downtown. Siliclone and Affluenza
Sadly, the Reality behind the Housewives of OC isn't featured on the reality program, but more so in depth at www.FamilyLawCourts.com— April 21, 2008 6:27 p.m.
Man Found Guilty for Meth Mania Debt Collecting Slaying
Odd how the story didn't mention the number of useless restraining orders involved. Check out Commissioner Alan Clements on that at www.SanDiegoJudges.com— April 9, 2008 8:10 a.m.
How Sam Became the Cooking Guy
Beats me why the show is a success. It's gotta be luck as the lighting is terrible, Sam isn't exactly "charismatic" and the recipes no better or worse than any other place.— March 26, 2008 10:14 p.m.
Jenny Craig Sent Out Tainted Meat from Chino Slaughterhouse, but Notification Inadequate
Jenny Craig personnel make a big fuss about helping people live a healthier lifestyle. So it was a complete shock to learn this only applies to their bottom line. Kind of scuzzy behavior. Small amount? There was only a small number of Tylenol bottles tampered with, and only in Chicago; but their CEO pulled every bottle in the country. Jenny; take notes.— March 22, 2008 6:22 p.m.
