Throwing darkness on Light
I don't get it. Why would Washington Post coverage of Doug Manchester's past boorishness cast shade on U-T's editor/publisher Jeff Light with the newspaper's new owner Patrick Soon-Shiong? It seems to me that Light's comments were forthright and candid. Not sensational, not downplaying the truth, just straightforward. No big deal.— February 20, 2018 8:36 p.m.
Get Out: Free President's Day Screening
Unbearable death of the mother in "Bambi"was transfixing and marked every child-witness for life, even if the kid was hiding under the theater seat. (Wasn't that a hunter with a long gun?) It also became a hallmark for all Disney films thereafter. Moving on, I love your cartoon of the Pink Panther and the Black Panther.— February 20, 2018 1:04 p.m.
Get Out: Free President's Day Screening
Sure hope African-American families with little kids don't mistake "Get Out" as appropriate ethno-centric fare for little kids. It's scary and violent. Long lines of black families have been waiting to see "Black Panther" this long weekend, which may be a genuine landmark black movie-making moment, but it's also incredibly violent, according to reviews. Even the new "Peter Rabbit" was violent! Who needs violence on the silver screen, when we've got it in reai life?— February 19, 2018 4:30 p.m.

Border czar Alan Bersin sets up BorderWorks Group
Does this mean Bersin has moved back to San Diego? I mainly recall a leisurely classic Bersin advert/interview with friendly Pro Publica reporter Sebastian Rotella in early 2017 when Bersin, newly out of work, was asked about "the travel ban on people from seven predominantly Muslim countries." Bersin memorably replied,"The reason for the suspension, it's not a ban, has been to provide an opportunity to do a review of the vetting and screening procedures to be sure that the full resources --intelligence-wise and data-wise -- have been employed to prevent dangerous people from coming into the country."— February 16, 2018 4:46 p.m.
Barack Obama in Barry Poppins
Chac'un a son gout, I guess, but this was gratuitously vicious and, dare I say, racist-sounding. Since when is Scotty reviewing painting? And I also would like to "suggest removal" of the scurrilous comment of "Dave Berlinger."— February 15, 2018 7:57 p.m.
New job posting at the U/T
Those tronckers just won't stop with the gibberish: "Content ingestion processes?" That sounds like food in the alimentary canal. Let us again thank the higher power who delivered the Los Angeles Times and San Diego Union-Tribune into the hands of new owner, Dr. Patrick Song-Sue (sic). Whatever unfolds, it can't be as bad as what tronc has in mind for its remaining newspaper properties.— February 14, 2018 7:52 p.m.
S&M (smut & moronity) with Fifty Shades Freed
One of your great funny reviews, Scotty, even though it was arguably one of the worst flicks you've ever had to sit through. Do you think they make movies like this in damnable interfering Communist Russia? To their great credit, I'll bet not.— February 14, 2018 7:35 p.m.

Where's the "Do" part about remedies? What are women who test positive for these social diseases instructed to do to regain their thriving good health here in "America's Finest City?"— February 13, 2018 11:19 p.m.
