Mother kills two young daughters, then self, in Rosarito
Mexico needs stricter gun laws to prevent this sort of violence... oh, wait, sorry, I got confused about with mouthful of pablum I'm supposed to swallow today.— March 21, 2013 1:06 p.m.
Eureka! I've found a Grade F veggie burger!
It is impossible for any "veggie burger" to be anything other than an F. BURGERS ARE MADE WITH MEAT!!! If you don't like meat, then what's the fixation with "it tastes just like..." (no, it doesn't) or trying to substitute non-meat ingredients in meat-based dishes? If you want to eat bird food, go for it. But quit acting disappointed that it doesn't taste right.— March 12, 2013 9:27 a.m.
Electrical outage affects 150,000 Baja residents
What on Earth did he do to bring down two towers, and how was he planning on carting away that much cable? I love it when copper thieves kill themselves.— March 12, 2013 9:15 a.m.
People's Power Assembly decries police violence
"Peoples Power Committee"??? What, is it headed by Robespierre?— March 12, 2013 9:13 a.m.
Mexico hopes to weaken world’s richest man Carlos Slim with competition bill
What, no competition for PEMEX???— March 12, 2013 9:11 a.m.
San Diegans in their 20s don't make enough for rent
The Shah ran a particularly brutal secret police ("Mukhabarat", a term lots of Middle Eastern-ish societies love for their version of the Gestapo) and SAVAK, and prison (Evin). He wasn't up there with Bashar, let's say, certainly not Saddam Hussein, but there were more than a few people who got themselves disappeared. Some at the behest of the CIA, which was part of what led to the Revolution.— March 6, 2013 3:49 p.m.
What do you want done with your body after you die?
Loot me of usable organs, then burn up what's left. I suppose it's possible that, one day, they'll be able to freeze you in a way that you could be brought back, and that the process of freezing and then the following storage would be affordable. It would be worth it to take that chance. But anyone who's frozen today has probably suffered severe cell damage. And I don't even want to think what it costs to run a cryo tank per year, for how many years? And in the future, when there are 40 billion people living like ants under a One World totalitarian government... who is going to want to revive someone from the past, other than as a curiosity? The idea that you're going to wake up one day and made young and beautiful and immortal and handed the ability to lead an easy life is a pipe dream.— March 6, 2013 3:43 p.m.
Three-fourths of affluent to retire in San Diego
Anyone who retires with $250K in assets isn't going to have much of a retirement. I wouldn't be comfortable with $1 million. I expect to have to work well into my 60s to be able to actually afford to retire.— March 6, 2013 3:39 p.m.
San Diegans in their 20s don't make enough for rent
Henry Ford paid his employees a "fair wage" for very practical reasons... when you look for smart people and train them to do specialized tasks, you don't want them running off to competitor for another nickel or quarter or dollar an hour. Those people were WORTH paying. Once again... if your job can be done by an illiterate Third World peasant who just hopped a fence, your labor simply is not worth much, and there is no reason to pay you more just because your skin is white or because you were born here instead of there. Anyone who feels they're underpaid can find out very quickly if that's true... ask for a raise, and if denied, quit. Go where you'll be adequately compensated. If there is no such place, guess what? You were NOT underpaid, and may even have been overpaid.— March 1, 2013 2:08 p.m.
San Diegans in their 20s don't make enough for rent
As I've always said... if your job can be done by an illiterate, uneducated Third World peasant who doesn't speak English and who just hopped a fence, you are never going to get anywhere in life, and blaming said illegal alien is pointless. I am NOT in favor of opening the borders, but that's because of the huge amounts of money we wind up paying in welfare, sending their kids to school to drop out, etc. Protectionism is NEVER the correct response.— March 1, 2013 2:03 p.m.
