Ramona fights solar panels
How many of those "locals" voted for Obama and "green energy"? Funny how the left always says, "This energy is bad, but this other energy is good", up until someone tries to deploy "that other energy". And then they're the bad guys, and that's terrible, and we need to be looking at something else entirely! Hydro dams up rivers and purees fish, wind farms chop up rare endangered birds, solar is "unsightly" and blamed on disturbing lizards and turtles... what, exactly, are we supposed to run a modern society on? A smug sense of entitlement and blind self-assurance just doesn't turn on any lightbulbs.— May 30, 2013 6:18 p.m.

Star Wars fanboy question
Google "Harmy's Despecialized Star Wars" They took the "special editions", LaserDiscs, film footage, VHS tapes, whatever to recreate the originals, clean them up, and put them on Blu-Rays.— May 30, 2013 6:12 p.m.
San Diegans who refuse to modernize
The "street magician" needs to get a job. And $10K for a matchmaker?!?!?! I have to wonder exactly what that buys you. All the matches you want until you get married?— May 20, 2013 2:19 p.m.
Other people's luggage
I always check my bag at the ticketing counter. Don't hand it to someone else and trust that they'll get it to the right place... let the ticket people print out the correct tag, put it on your bag(s), and send everything on. Always remove all old tags and stickers. Further, always leave a card or something with your name, address, phone number, and email in the bag. When going from home to a destination, include something clearly marked as info about your destination... what hotel(s), the dates you'll be there, etc. Get rid of that when returning home to avoid confusion. Cameras... take a picture of the piece of paper with your info, then view it and see if the info can be read from the viewfinder. Airlines really go to lengths to keep bags going where they're supposed to, but stuff happens. And when it does, they work hard to identify owners and get them their bags ASAP. They'll drive stuff out to you, or Fed-Ex it, or whatever. But if they have zero information to go on, it isn't their fault if your stuff disappears forever. Help them to help you!— May 13, 2013 9:33 a.m.

"an overlooked F16 fighter jet guidance system, which was returned to the U.S. Navy" Why would a part for an Air Force fighter be sent to the Navy???— May 13, 2013 9:28 a.m.
LinkedIn or left out
I wish Linkedin had a nice binary operator: "I am currently looking for new opportunities: [Y/N]" I'm constantly binning invitations from headhunters and receiving job offers that have little to do with what I do, or are in places I would never work. But if I do happen to be looking at some point, there's no way to quickly and effectively communicate that, except to write it in my profile somewhere and hope that some of them can read.— May 10, 2013 4:57 p.m.
Teacher's Association and State labor union donates $100,000 to committee against Steve Castaneda
If I lived in this district, I know all I need to from the headline... if public employee unions support someone, I oppose them; and if the unions oppose someone, I support them.— May 10, 2013 4:54 p.m.
Oceanside transient accused of killing a man for being too loud
In most of the rest of the country, and even many of the rural California counties, hundreds of millions of Americans can choose to be able to defend themselves from nuts like this without fearing arrest. But Sheriff Gore (and previous San Diego Sheriffs going back decades) has decided that we shouldn't be able to do that, that only his employees and buddies and campaign contributors should be able to survive an encounter with a nut like this. Why is that? Why is it that very literally MILLIONS of Americans carry a sidearm every day with none of the shootouts over parking spaces the left constantly wrings their hands about but never happen? Why are our lives not worth defending, or even much more than an investigation after we're dead? California badly needs CCW issuance reform, but here in San Diego we could have it simply by getting rid of this political hack who was walked into office without ever having to face an election, and electing a Sheriff who respects Constitutional rights instead of ordering people shot and killed for exercising them.— May 10, 2013 4:43 p.m.
