Protesters post at entry to Serra Mesa Walmart
If $8.82 isn't enough, quit. You didn't have to take the job in the first place. What's that, you can't earn any more anywhere else? Maybe it's YOU that's the problem then. Try getting an education or useful skills. Unskilled labor simply is not worth much, I'm sorry to say. No government edict can change that.— December 2, 2013 2:14 p.m.
Protesters post at entry to Serra Mesa Walmart
Is it only Wal-Mart that should pay more? Or fast food places? Or should the minimum wage be raised to $15? If doubling the minimum wage would be good, wouldn't tripling it be better? Or just make it $50 an hour. That sounds like a "living wage" for San Diego. Don't worry, there's no chance that businesses will lay people off, cut hours, stop hiring, raise prices, or go out of business. No chance at all.— December 2, 2013 2:13 p.m.
Tijuana leads Mexico in tuberculosis cases
Illegal aliens are why tuberculosis is seeing a resurgence here.— December 2, 2013 2:02 p.m.
San Diego Puppy sues slew of entities over pet-store ban
Where else do you believe they would get puppies from? There are two legitimate sources for dogs… rescues/shelters, and REPUTABLE breeders. A reputable breeder isn't going to sell you a dog for $295 or whatever a pet store is charging… they're paying for proper medical care, food, space, etc. They aren't forcing dogs to have another litter every time they're in heat. And they aren't "disposing" of unhealthy dogs. If you want a "purebred", you should be paying the actual cost of bringing that pup around, not the cost after all the corners have been cut and "unprofitable" dogs are dumped or killed. If you aren't willing to pay the actual cost, then you don't need a papered dog, and should do just fine with a rescue.— November 27, 2013 3:28 p.m.
Study says City of San Diego underfunding health benefits
Wait a minute. We're always being told that the only reason USPS is hemorrhaging red ink is because of the "unfair" requirement that they fully fund their pensions and retiree health care funds. If adequately funding i bad and wrong and evil, then therefore partially funding is a good thing, right? After all, the less we fund it today means more money can be spent today, and we can worry about tomorrow tomorrow. Right?— November 18, 2013 6:19 p.m.
Study says City of San Diego underfunding health benefits
Nobody who believes in "single payer" is a conservative.— November 18, 2013 6:17 p.m.
Study says City of San Diego underfunding health benefits
Because all of these other "advanced countries" have piled up more debt per capita or as a percentage of GDP than we have.— November 18, 2013 6:16 p.m.

Brett Stalbaum's Gun Geo Marker already hacked
Ahh, but when someone believes all guns should be illegal (or just illegal for everyone else, but they should be one of the special annointed elite), an app like this starts to make sense, in a twisted way.— November 17, 2013 8:38 a.m.
Compulsive gamblers may be wired to prefer money to sex
So, you want to ban casinos because they're too popular? Can we use the same "logic" and ban baseball and football games, fairs, malls, or Disneyland? People want to gamble. Ban it, and you drive it underground. Now, you get all of the problems that accompany gambling (some people just can't handle it, like any addiction), plus you wind up prosecuting lots of other people for no reason other than there are suddenly some words on a piece of paper. It isn't the Indians' fault the casinos are out in the back country. That's ours, collectively... that's where we sent the Indians, and then we don't allow casinos to be built where people are. There is a demand, supply will arise to meet it. Period. It's the same with prostitution, drugs, booze, cigarettes, porn, and all sorts of stuff we can argue we'd be better off without. But people want it, and you can't change that. Huge numbers of San Diegans go to the casinos, have some fun, have dinner, see a show, and come home. Why should they be banned or labeled as criminals because someone else might gamble away the mortgage or drunkenly crash their car on a windy road?— November 17, 2013 8:36 a.m.
