Tijuana’s chocolate-car problem
I have an idea... we can work to keep these "chocolate cars" north of the border, and they can work to keep millions of their citizens south of the border! Can we shake on it?— August 4, 2014 2:20 p.m.
Esco dijo "no" to kids' immigrant facility
"Every day I see my brother, my family, my neighbors living in fear because of the anti-immigrant sentiments of this city," You should go back home where there are no problems and nobody hates you.— July 23, 2014 8:37 p.m.
Minimum-wage activists visit Mayor Faulconer
If only these people exerted as much effort while working instead of whining for more handouts, they might actually EARN more than minimum wage.— July 23, 2014 8:36 p.m.
No trolley dancing here, folks
If someone can't afford to live in San Diego, they should move. Not start stealing. Comparing them to people who steal potatoes to avoid starving to death is ludicrous. San Diego is an extremely expensive place. Move to Oklahoma or something... mush lower cost of living, same minimum wage. I know... "That isn't fair, I have a human right to live near the beach!"— July 15, 2014 3:09 p.m.
No trolley dancing here, folks
If the trolley fare is "too high", then don't take the trolley. Hey... a car is going to be "too much" for someone who can't afford $2, too. Does that mean they get a pass for stealing a car?— July 15, 2014 3:07 p.m.
Council passes minimum-wage hike ordinance
Wow, a bunch of people were willing to line up and ask for free handouts! Staggering! Amazing! Of course, let's ignore those who will wind up having to pay. Don't worry, they won't take their jobs somewhere else. Anyone who's making minimum wage and wants more can do it right now. All you have to do is learn to do something more useful than unskilled labor.— July 15, 2014 3:05 p.m.
Mystery assault in front of Fry's Electronics
An incredibly one-sided tale. Where's the other side? The idea that strange women, mysterious martial-arts experts, cops, Frys, etc. are all involved in a conspiracy to screw this guy is a little far-fetched.— July 10, 2014 12:43 p.m.
3000+ cars, more than nine DUIs
"Am I free to go, or am I being detained?" I never voluntarily cooperate with these checkpoints. It's none of their business where I'm coming from, where I'm going, what I've done, etc. If you think you have reasonable suspicion to detain me, go for it... I'll call an attorney. Otherwise, I'm leaving.— July 10, 2014 12:37 p.m.
Welcome the children
Give them love and compassion by sending them home to their families and the culture they know and the taxpayers who are responsible for them. But they don't want "love". They want our cash. They want free housing, free medical care, free food. I'd say free education, too, but far too many Mexican / central American illegal aliens don't care about an education. Their parents like free babysitting, and the kids like getting into gangs and drugs and starting their own little brood at 14. A nation cannot become great by importing poverty, and that's exactly what this is about... bringing in millions who will depend on government for everything and will vote accordingly.— July 10, 2014 12:29 p.m.
How much did they pay you to move to Texas?
Attempts to force tax receipts up by increasing taxes ALWAYS fail and result in lower receipts, resulting in yet more cries for even-higher taxes. And Texas does NOT have a "lack of regulation". I know it's popular to compare it to Somalia, but it's still a state in the US, subject to Federal regulation. They just choose to not layer on as much state and local regulation as CA... and they profit by it. Oh, and what "cost-cutting" in education here? We pour more and more money every year into "education"... except it doesn't go into educating kids, it disappears into the maw of unions. More money only makes the problem worse. The US had a FAR better education system decades ago, when we could go to the Moon. Today, all our taxes and regulations and unions get us is millions of kids who know who Whoop-De-Doop the rapper is but couldn't give afact of history or science to save their lives, if you could pry them from their X-Box or iGadget long enough to ask.— July 7, 2014 7:29 p.m.
