Why Independents Support Whitburn
Gloria HAS to support CCDC and SEDC. He took all that money from Nancy graham, Kilheney, CCDC pres, Jennifer LeSar CCDC Board member and Atkins life partner, Fred Maas, etc. This what happens when you take all that money, you cant turn on the people that paid for your candidacy. This is a great example of how Todd willoperate when something as obvious as the need to dissolve these agencies comes into conflict w/ donor money.— September 17, 2008 7:45 p.m.
District Three Doppelgangers
To Stephen Davis, If Todd fought so hard for affordable housing why didnt he fight to get rid of the "in lieu of" fees that developers pay to get out of providing affordable housing. This way there is an endless cycle. Developers cry that we need to provide affordable housing so they can get projects approved, then pay a fee so they dont have to actually provide it so we get "tons" of affordable housing projects w/o ANY affordable housing. And Todd's enormous project on Florida st---did he have to mow over an entire street of craftsmans? I mean there are a million blocks of Huffmans that we would love to see mowed over.— September 17, 2008 7:18 p.m.
District Three Doppelgangers
"Whitburn is divisive and a weak leader. That's why he lost the endorsement" Is that why he received the endorsement from his own party as well as the Sierra Club, because he is weak and divisive. I don't think Donna is into weak and divisive. I think she is into honest and sincere. Com'on the unions have about as much credibility as Wall Street right now--they use the same leadership model...divide, deceive, destroy. As far as Glorias "small contributions"...please!!! So small that the Reader wrote an article called "The Dollar Flows" about his enormous defense contractor contributions and so small that channel 10 did a story called "Baldwin Brothers Pay Big When It Comes to Politics". You dont have a leg to stand on w/ these arguments.— September 16, 2008 10:30 p.m.
Gloria Signs Coming Down
well Jake, Legally he wasnt even allowed to solicit her contribution--thats where hes in trouble. And an endorsement from the Police and Fire--is that the same Police and Fire where the top guys rake in $250,000 a year. Thats why they are mad at Donna--she keeps bringing up the insanity of the pay scale. Police and Fire support isnt really a basis for bragging here in SD. Its more a good reason to be suspicious. And believe me that obnoxious phone call from the police demanding that we vote for Gloria isnt helping either.— September 16, 2008 10:19 p.m.
Gloria Signs Coming Down
Hate to break it to ya Jake... but Fred's facts are true and backed up by the Center for Policy initiatives, and several publications, including signonsandiego of all people.— September 16, 2008 11:50 a.m.
Whitburn Stands up for San Diego
Thanks Fred, You are right on!! I mean these Gloria followers are always saying show us the facts and we do... again and again and again. In fact they are too big for this post so I created an entire page on my website dedicated exclusively to the facts about Glorias money. http://www.developeralert.org/INDEXGloria.html. Additionally, look at these news articles: http://www.10news.com/news/15938273/detail.html http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2008/mar/26/br… I mean com'on. Havent we learned our lesson--are we going to keep doing the same sleazy CCDC and SEDC stuff again. Todd is a nice guy, but either he is 2 faced and will do exactly what Atkins did which is tell us she's on our side and then cast her vote for the developer or he is naive and is in WAY over his head. I mean he didnt even have the savvy to say no to Manchester. I say Todd, if you really want to be in politics take the next couple of years and be a citizen and show us what you really care about because I have never seen you at any rallies to help save community buildings or at council to stand up to developers---never. In fact on the contrary, you showed up to the prop C mtg and voted against all 200 citizens there and w/ the BIA that created the prop to allow the same lack of financial accountability that got us into the CCDC and SEDC mess.— September 15, 2008 8:17 p.m.
District Three Doppelgangers
One of Todd's bragging points at the meeting was his accounting skills. He contended the SEDC scandal wouldn't have slipped by him, and yet he voted for prop C which even independent auditors strongly warned council at the mtg "Dont do this. There is no precedent and its going to get you in trouble". It gives the mayor the power to conduct all his finances in secret. Its also the same sort of thing that created the SEDC scandal. Additionally, VOSD just did a story on how Todd is in trouble for soliciting money from Nancy Graham on CCDC. He said it was a simple mistake but com'on even if it was, someone w/ good accounting eyes would let that slip through the cracks.— September 13, 2008 1:49 p.m.
District Three Doppelgangers
With all due respect, the 2 candidates are as far apart as they could possibly be. Gloria is trying to say that they would vote the same, because he wants people to think he will vote w/ Whitburn for the people and not the developers. The fact is, if Gloria CAN stand up to developers, why didn't he? He isn't even in office and he already voted FOR the Kensington shopping mall project which mowed over a historic home and was strongly opposed by residents because it would destroy the scale of the neighborhood. He voted for and supported at Councilmtg proposition C which was created and funded by the building industry to give the mayor unchecked powers w/ his money.— September 13, 2008 1:44 p.m.
Marriage Protection Act
Ask Todd Gloria why he took so much money from Manchester's people if he really cares about the marriage ban.— August 12, 2008 9:25 p.m.
County Democrats Endorse Aguirre for City Attorney; Only One Vote Goes for Opponent
It is great that aguirre is being endorsed, but remember the fat cats are going to fight hard and they will fight unfair. If we arent paying attention to the very flawed registrar of voters system, this election will also be rigged. We have to get rid of the Diebold optical scanners scanning the paper ballots and the 2 criminals running the show--Seiler and Vu. SD didnt hire them for nothing in May 2007, they hired them to buy an election and get Aguirre out.— July 10, 2008 3:50 p.m.
