Proposition D Thumbed Down Overwhelmingly
And Sanders was so smug last night on the news about it saying "I just really respect what the voters want".....hmmmm"respect the voters" lets see that youtube clip of you again from Pat Flannery where a citizen is trying to ask you a question rather than having you read a pre-censored question from the crowd.....he articulates the majority view and concerns about Prop D and you very rudely tell him again and again he should "just leave".— November 3, 2010 12:51 p.m.
Who Runs Our Elections and How Safe Actually are They?
I just dont believe these results at all. I dont believe for a second that Horn and Roberts won so easily when they are extremely unpopular incumbants. There is no worse handicap this election season than being an incumbant and I dont buy that the County Board of Sups is continually again and again re-elected when the registrar of voters deborah seiler is their employee and is dependent on them for her job. I also dont believe that 70% of voters voted to allow continued tract home development along route 56 in a proposition placed on the ballot by Pardee homes. Come on people. Wake up. This election was bought and paid for.— November 3, 2010 12:07 a.m.
As a Citizen Activist....Sharing My Research and Endorsements of Candidates and Props
I like your plan!! I know getting the City to listen is insane. Its so odd to me that on virtually every issue Council ignores what the citizens want as if to say "you guys aren't smart enough to know what you really need". A great example is the mid city rapid transit project that no one wants because its benefit is negligible and the cost is over 40 million in a 1/2 cent tax increase we voted for for public transit. The citizens are overwhelmingly saying this project is a huge waste of money and is not what we voted for and does more damage than good, but they continue to ignore us and say as w/ all their redevelopment projects "its a DONE DEAL". So yes, you plan is awesome and De Maio is the only real hope for pension reform.— November 2, 2010 10:06 p.m.

the candidate choices were just horrendous. The only thing I was excited to vote on were propositions. But yes I filled in the "write-in" bubble on most candidate positions and wrote in "none of the above". I suppose "none of the above" could always win. I hope one day he/she does.— November 2, 2010 8:25 p.m.

Of course that is the beauty of voting and choosing what we want. I am just real real careful about voting w/ the Chamber of Commerce. So we will see what happens. I just voted. Many of the candidates I just didn't like any of them so I voted for "None of the Above" for multiple positions. You never know if enough people vote "none of the above" he/she just may win one for once!— November 2, 2010 6:40 p.m.
South Park's Granny Flats — City Says Yea, Some Citizens Say Nay
@tradinlady, if granny flats are really the goal and I get what you are saying but the General Plan is being written in language to appeal to someone like you that is genuinely just interested in adding a "granny flat" but the language actually allows condos. That is my point. We need to get to the heart of what it is we want. I am a Designer and a nearly licensed architect (Masters degree, 3 year internship and 5 of 9 exams successfully completed) so my money does come from "building" however I am extremely conscious of responsible development and development that really protects these neighborhoods. Im saying, I would love to design a granny flat for someone in South Park however I would only want to do it if the neighborhood was totally protected and the code was written in a way that would give you your granny flat but would not promote or encourage the demolition of these homes because now they are zoned for 2 or more dwelling units. We MUST be very very conscious of how the city is writing these codes to make sure it really accomplishes the stated goals.— November 2, 2010 6:33 p.m.

Oh Im sorry about that. Yes Proposition 23 :OPPOSE. Any time we hear the word "job-killer" its a big clue who is behind it. "job-killer" is the big buzz word to scare us into voting for the corporations. And yes ....the best thing you could possibly do is print that Cal Chamber Endorsement Page and vote the OPPOSITE. CoC is what all the corporations are lobbying under so they can hide in anonymity and shame. Thats why you dont hear about "land developers" lobbying because they lobby under the Chamber w/ Walmart and the other bottom feeding parasites.— November 2, 2010 4:29 p.m.
South Park's Granny Flats — City Says Yea, Some Citizens Say Nay
I am seeing a pattern here w/ some of these posters that are posting for the 1st time. I think we along w/ the Reader need to develop a way to identify people that are posing as concerned residents when they are really the special interests that are trying to get things approved by the City. It seems 1 person can create multiple log-ins and post as a "concerned citizen" as #25 appears to be while really they are the developers. Reader: can you guys find a way to address this so we can ensure that the discussions are legitimate? Im not saying the special interests dont have the right to comment but they are totally lying about who they are in many of these posting including the piece I wrote on Prop C.— November 2, 2010 2:26 p.m.
South Park's Granny Flats — City Says Yea, Some Citizens Say Nay
Developers clearly have developed their buzzwords like "artists" and "diversity" and "rapid transit" and "density" and now................ta da....their new favorite word to get us on board "granny flats"!!!!!!....heck they even pretend to be preservationists because they are going to leave us 1 or 2 craftsmans, but their intentions are obvious. The key there is that they can build a "primary dwelling" and granny flat at the same time....in other words.....condos.— November 2, 2010 2:18 p.m.
South Park's Granny Flats — City Says Yea, Some Citizens Say Nay
25 is CLEARLY a developer!!!!!!!! calling any buildings in South Park an eyesore....are you kidding me even the delapidated buildings are amazing. SP has some of SDs oldest buildings. I cant believe they are still there and I hope to God someone acts fast to save them before 25 swoops in w/ his bulldozer to put in his giant eyesores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!— November 2, 2010 2:14 p.m.
