Rumor: U-T Sale Imminent
Reply to #25. The only good things that happenned after Platium Equity purchased the UT: 1. No more pictures of David Copley. 2. No more Karin Winner. 3. No more Reuben Navarette. 4. No more society page. 5. Burl Stiff's $1,000 per story cut back to next to nothing. I could go on.— November 20, 2011 12:36 p.m.
Kerry Steigerwalt's Broke Law Firm Trying to Make Deals
Regarding lawyers - In the movie "Barbarians At The Gate", James Garner's character, F. Ross Johnson, says the only things he asks of lawyers are a calendar at Christmas time and that they get back in their coffins before the sun comes up.— June 26, 2011 5:05 p.m.
Agaves Blooming
Jerry, I was one of your students at San Diego City College in 1983. The class was Astronomy (lab class) for only one unit.— June 26, 2011 4:46 p.m.
Salary Cap Issue May Keep Chargers in Town
I agree. This only puts more pressure on the Chargers to try to get there before some other team does. I really don't see a new stadium being built here in San Diego. And I'm a long time season ticket holder. So I'm not a Charger hater. But I still think the team will move to Los Angeles.— June 26, 2011 4:39 p.m.
Union-Tribune Edits Out Name of Owner
Don, Were you able to come up with more names regarding the latest layoffs at the U-T?— June 26, 2011 4:22 p.m.
Union-Tribune Edits Out Name of Owner
Don, Remember when David Copley's name was kept out of the stories during the Andrew Cunnanan saga? Some things never change.— June 26, 2011 12:48 p.m.
Society Writer Burl Stiff Dead at 83
Burl Stiff made $3,000 per week? I always thought John Sinor and Michael Grant were overpaid. I agree with TheRailsplitter that later on $150 per column must have been a slap in the face to Burl Stiff. But $3000 per week was a slap in the face to all UT employees. Gekko— May 22, 2011 4:33 p.m.
Some Copley Retirees May -- Repeat, MAY -- Get Refunds
Don, In Diane Bell's UT column on 4/23/11, she wrote that Bob Kittle is no longer working for KUSI-TV. He said he quit to write a book. What's the real reason?— April 24, 2011 9:56 a.m.
Some Copley Retirees May -- Repeat, MAY -- Get Refunds
Don, any names of those laid off?— April 24, 2011 9:42 a.m.
San Diegan Canned for Airing NFL Sex Bombshells
Nothing in sports surprises me anymore. Kobe Bryant, Rick Petino, Dennis Green's son, Brett Farve's text messages, Antonio Cromarte's numerous kids. gekko— April 13, 2011 4:16 p.m.
