UCSD's Gary Jacobson frets about polarization
The whole quote Pete. It loses a little when taken out of context. "God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ... And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."— October 15, 2009 10:51 p.m.

Ponzi Schemer J. David "Jerry" Dominelli Is Dead
Don, The bottom feeders on the list don't quite make it to the billionaires club. The last 9 on the 2009 list are "only" worth 950-990 billion, while ast year it took 1.1 billion to make the list. Prior to 2009, 2005 was the last time you could still make the list as a millionaire. According to Forbes, there are 700 billionares in the world, so the US still has more than half of them. For the surfpup: 13,15,12,13. http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2005/MichelleLee.s…— October 13, 2009 2:32 p.m.

After which comes: ARMADILLO IN MUSTARD SAUCE 1 1/4 cups dry white wine, 1/2 cup oil, 2 garlic cloves, crushed (optional), 1/4 cup butter, 1/2 tsp. thyme, 1/2 tsp. rosemary, 1 med. onion, sliced thin, 1 1/4 cups light cream, 1 tbsp. brown mustard (e.g. Gulden's) or Poupon Dijon, 1 tbsp. cornstarch, 1 armadillo, cleaned and cut into serving pieces and salt and pepper to taste. Mix all ingredients of marinade and add armadillo. Marinate about 8 hrs., turning meat occasionally. Remove armadillo and reserve marinade. Melt butter in deep skillet and brown armadillo pieces. Pour in marinade and bring to a boil. Stir in seasoning, cover and simmer until tender (about 1 - 1 1/4 hours.) Remove skillet from the fire and place armadillo pieces on a warmed platter. Mix mustard and cornstarch, then mix in cream. Return skillet to low heat and stir in this mixture a little at a time. Stir sauce until hot, but not boiling, and thickened. Pour sauce over armadillo. Serve with steamed rice. (you can sub a good anjejo tequila for the wine if so desired)— October 11, 2009 12:32 p.m.

"The only thing in the middle of the road is dead armadillos and a dotted white line." Armadillo's Rules for crossing the road safely Stop & look both ways Stick nose to the road to feel for rumbling of cars. Stop & look both ways Get ready to run... Plug In, Plump Up
Josh, Anthony Keidis had his done by the same guy who did mine. It wasn't really a muscle version of a Camaro, but it was a 69 convertible. I had mine done about 3 yrs ago. The episode his was done in aired last year, but I don't have any idea when it was actually done. It wasn't a reality show per say. It was a segment on a show called "The G Word" on one og the Discovery channels named Planet Green.— October 11, 2009 12:19 p.m.
No Pictures, Dude
"It is amazing how Grease has turned into the phenomenon it has, and it holds up so good over time (can't say the same for Saturday Night fever)." This is true but really maybe not so amazing when you think about it. Although Travolta was a bigstar, SNF was only a movie born out of a magazine article. Grease, of course, already had a much stonger heritage as a Tony nominated Broadway musical. I don't recall how long it ran, but I know that when it closed, it was the longest running show ever on Broadway. It's still a staple in regional theatre, summer stock, community theatre etc. Our daughter's high school drama club even did it. We went to a performance at the Pantages earlier this year (though I could have done without the Taylor Hicks appearance). A piece of little known trivia. Porn star Harry Reems was originally offered the role of the coach, the one played by Sid Caesar.— October 10, 2009 5:27 p.m.
