Congressman Bob Filner Stands Up for Medical Marijuana

@anniej You are confusing the issue here. Bob Filner took a brave stance on the medical marijuana issue. He questioned why the other mayoral candidates refuse to stand up to the dirty feds who are trampling all over this state's rights issue. This is a question of leadership and Bob has the balls here. As far as the South Bay corruption issue, I am pretty sure sordid stuff like that favoritism and graft goes on ALL THE TIME! The only reason the D.A. went after this group down south is that it is the home turf of DEMOCRAT Congressman Filner, & the Dirty D.A. is trying to flex some political muscle and grandstand to look like she is tough on crime in the schools. However, as most of the internet comments on the news sites suggest, perhaps the D.A. would do well to go clean up around her own backyard. There are matters of ticket-fixing, Cynthia Gregory..., Suzanne LaTour..., Cheryl Cox. Oh, I could go on and on all day here!

Mysterious Bird Deaths Near Ocean Beach

If anybody out there has money, please offer a reward for information on this case. Those ospreys are beautiful and harm no one. They are an indication of the environmental health of the lower San Diego River eco-system. Some yahoo driving by probably thought he could target practice on the birds. Keep your eyes open, people! If I ever find out who did this, I have some special target practice I'd like to do!

Watch Your Step in City Heights

I suggest you people being offended by this constant stream of dog refuse put the phone number of the County of San Diego Animal Control on your speed dial and take your cell phone camera with you at all times. If you happen to witness anyone allowing their dog off a leash or going to the bathroom without picking it up, call Animal Control. They will ask you where these people with offending dogs live, so it helps to have an address. Photo proof, if it can be gotten in a low-key manner, is also helpful. The phone number I call is 619-236-4250. I just hit "0" and wait for some live person to answer. Since I live adjacent to a walking path in an apartment complex full of crackheads and low lives, I have had my own battles to bear in regard to morons with dogs. In addition, on our "private property," we have idiots from neighboring condo complexes whose condo rules forbid dogs access to their "common areas" so these "neighbors" bring their pets over to poop on ours! Dogs make wonderful pets and companions but I wish they could breed them not to defecate and urinate so much!

Mary Birch does not deny that its C-section rate is high

I have to say I agree with fred2468. The women (with good insurance) who deliver at Mary Birch are usually high risk. It is a hospital that specializes in complicated births or multiple pregnancies so of course their c-rates will be higher than other hospitals. If you want to luxuriate in homey birthing rooms, find another hospital. Every book you read and class you attend before childbirth always instructs you to state your preferences for a birth plan but be open to changes and flexible. That means if something goes wrong or the labor is not progressing, sometimes you have to bite the bullet and do what needs to be done to get that baby out safely. Women have some kind of rose-colored glasses on to think that it will be a walk in the park to have a baby. It is dirty, painful, and fraught with danger but also the most wonderful thing in the world. You can say you want to do it "naturally" all you want but it doesn't always work out that way. I wanted "natural" too but with my back labor feeling like a knife slicing by spine with every contraction, I opted for an epidural and thanked God for it and the relief it brought me! My son decided to break my water at a most inconvenient time so I knew I would be getting the pitocin. Oh well, there goes my second attempt at "natural birth." But I didn't care about my so-called desire to have an organic birth at that point. I just wanted a healthy baby to come out any which way possible. Some people need to count their blessings and stop the whining. It sets a bad example for those precious children you were lucky enough to give birth to, which ever way they came out!

I am sorry to hear of her passing. Naomi was a certified foodie. I hope now she is enjoying delicious heavenly stews and divine desserts up among the Pearly Gates! My condolences to her family.
