Sweetwater school district backs off on Alliant International University plan
The Star-News has a new article online which should not be ignored: www.thestarnews.com/latest-news/done-deal-undone/ I hope the link works.— September 8, 2013 9:12 a.m.
Sweetwater school district backs off on Alliant International University plan
Maybe Brand's dissertation could be made available via a link or a pdf file. It would be most interesting to determine just what his thinking looks like on paper, as it is so very convoluted and unprepossessing when put into action.— September 8, 2013 9 a.m.
Sweetwater school district backs off on Alliant International University plan
Also interesting to note: the target demographic is the group with a lower than B average, which happens to be the group which would have just missed making it into SDSU via the Compact for Success. What strikes me is that this group would be particularly vulnerable, which is what makes targeting them particularly low. Targeting students who are relatively unsophisticated, who have just missed making the B average needed for the Compact for Success. Making money off the students you are supposed to be helping. Kind of makes me wonder if Brand and crew set out with the intent to be completely revolting individuals, or if it just happened while they were pursuing that Almighty Dollar.— September 7, 2013 8:03 p.m.
Chula Vista school hurries to get ready for Arne Duncan
Painting over the windows--what better illustration can there be of the hucksterism that is on display for all to see. Yes, I am sure that the graphic is sharp and the intent was to make great photos and film footage out of it...the superficial trumping the actual substance. Let's hope that Arne Duncan is smart enough to see when he is being sold a bill of goods.— September 7, 2013 7:48 p.m.
Sweetwater school district backs off on Alliant International University plan
Just out of curiosity, how many violations have been committed in Ed Brand's pursuit of this venture with Alliant? How many lies? How many lapses of judgment? How many times were actual laws broken? Now, we know that our most of the trustees have been aware of all this, and how many times has our trust in these individuals been misplaced? And of course, now we have the upcoming bit of street theater with the Arne Duncan visit. I can only hope that Mr. Duncan gets the real story, and that Brand and the rest of his partners in crime are dealt stern justice.— September 7, 2013 7:24 p.m.
Tom Ham's Lighthouse remodels and debuts new menu
What a great view! I hope to visit soon--have enjoyed the restaurant several times.— September 2, 2013 7:38 p.m.
Sweetwater underwriters reel in the big one — a grand jury indictment
Yes, Sweetwater UHSD, Dysfunctional is thy name! That is what happens when the leadership is corrupt and/or absent. What is it that we want from our school district leadership? What about "Leadership"! What about encouraging all that is good in the students, supporting good choices, intelligent decision-making, responsible actions, reasonable and sensible courses of behavior! All very basic stuff. But--how can we say we are encouraging that in the students when the examples available are completely in the opposite direction? Cheating, stealing, self-promotion, bleeding the students' funding dry, so that these miserable hoggish administrators grab everything for themselves. Can we please get this entire nauseatingly rotten bunch thrown out, and sent where they belong, as in incarceration--so they perhaps take a moment to reflect on where they went wrong. I hope that the Feds are watching, learning, taking notes, names and all available data for the big hammer that will come down hard. I and many others have been fed up with this bunch for so long--it is time for justice in the strictest sense.— September 2, 2013 9:03 a.m.
Sweetwater underwriters reel in the big one — a grand jury indictment
None of my relatives live within hundreds/thousands of miles from here. Believe it or not, some people think beyond familial/ethnic lines. Think 'first principles'. Think concepts of right and wrong.— August 30, 2013 7:43 a.m.
Sweetwater underwriters reel in the big one — a grand jury indictment
There were countless opportunities for the Sweetwater Union High School District Board of Trustees to speak up and say and do the right thing throughout these many years of truly loathsome goings-on. Bertha Lopez did speak up. She was rewarded by the other board members and two superintendents in effect working to 'lock her out'. In fact, this current board still keeps information from her. Allegedly. John McCann loves to show up smiling when the cameras are running, but if he is such a good guy, why doesn't he ever act like a good guy--in real life, not in pictures? This district is still playing fast and loose with Mello-Roos and Bond funds. The machinations are ongoing, the pretense, the sham still there for all to see. Those who are fooled are fewer and fewer in number, however. Again, I say to all who are approached by this Sweetwater crew: don't sign on for what they are trying to sell. Unless you are as crooked as they are, you will get caught up and not know what hit you. Do not donate to any 'foundations' they may be promoting. Do not, for your own good, fall into this bottomless pit of deception, fraud and self-service.— August 28, 2013 8:40 a.m.
National City a long way from Scripps Ranch
Yes, here we are on a beautiful summer's day, waiting to watch the local Little League team play as part of the championship series. This tells us we have great kids, students, families, a community that supports the good things! This is how we want to spend our time! Enjoying healthy competition, watching kids do their best. Yet more reasons why the Ed Brands of this world need to be stopped--they may mouth slogans to get people to donate to their personal, private "foundations", but really, how much of the money ever got/gets to the kids? Ed and the non-profit world--a vast sink-hole of deception and self-service. Let's enjoy the Little League run but not forget that Fearless Leader, "Fast Eddy" is still out there, endeavoring to leverage Sweetwater UHSD into his own personal fiefdom. What could this community/school district accomplish if we were all on the same team, the truthful team, the team that really wants to have a workable school system for all students, the team that ensures tax and bond funds aren't being given away to Ed's pals?— August 24, 2013 12:07 p.m.
