Dead movie theatres: Downtown Los Angeles edition
Saw The Exorcist at Nat. Theater of Westwood Jan. 18, 1974. I was 14, the only kid at a 1 a.m. just-added showing, packed with half-drunk adults not knowing what they were in for. My Mom/Stepdad allowed me to join them since I read the book with them and they thought, no way, it had to be watered down. When the opening title burned on someone let out a little goofy scream and the packed house was up for grabs, laughing. An hour later, it was a different story. All news items of crowd hysteria are true. Stepdad never recovered, a God fearing fundamentalist, born again on that fateful day. Later it was the go-to place for Blazing Saddles and Phantom of the Paradise, much lighter fare, something to truly to believe in. A birthday screening of Blazing Saddles with friends at that age was beyond heaven. Otherwise, it was a 2 month wait for it to get to the Valley, long before wide releases in shit boxes. http://cinemasightlines.com/cinemas_cinemaviews3.… Now its condos and shops, WTF, right?— June 26, 2013 7:46 a.m.

Review: Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth
All I ever want to see of this guy was already in Barbara Kopple's **Fallen Champ: The Untold Story of Mike Tyson** made for TV, good, riveting TV. Well, I guess he pops up in the Hangovers, too, oh well.— March 6, 2013 2:11 p.m.
Review: A Good Day to Die Hard
That's why I was able to see Love Streams in St. Petersburg— February 17, 2013 6:43 a.m.

Dig a hole: Michael Winner
Turn down the Jerry Fielding score & ignore the 70's tv movie titles and you have a pretty great silent film for the first 16 minutes.— January 22, 2013 8:23 a.m.

And the Oscar nominees are...
Only saw three of everything above. SLP might get some momentum if they get the SAG ensemble trophy. Hopefully there's upsets over the 1863 CSPAN congressional coverage. The Master was a good original screenplay. Other than that, its My Little Pony, 24/7 here.— January 10, 2013 3:59 p.m.
