I read in the WSJ last year that Ackman bought one on the 75th and 76th floors, about 14K square feet. The is another one, which occupies the 89th and 90th floors, that sold for $95million. The article said that Ackman doesn’t intend to move into the apartment, that it was a "strategic purchase as an investment".— December 9, 2014 5:48 p.m.

don bauder I remember 2 or 3 years ago that you wrote a column about the NFL considering a lawsuit against New Jersey to keep sports gambling out of the casinos in Atlantic City. I don't remember exactly how you said it but as I recall you said that the NFL's objections were a joke and basically you intimated that it would only be a half-hearted attempt to stop it, if even that. I don't recall hearing anything from you after the the NFL, the other major sports and the NCAA went to court to try and stop the law that Christie signed allowing New Jersey casinos and racetracks to offer sports betting. A couple of weeks ago a U.S. District Judge ruled in their favor and issued a permanent injunction against it. Any thoughts at this time??— December 8, 2014 6:49 p.m.

Actually he did get into coaching for a while. He finished his degree at WSU and then got a job, someplace in Texas I think, as a QB coach. He was there for 2 or 3 years until he had to quit after he tried to get pills from one of his players.— December 5, 2014 7:59 p.m.

don bauder, In high school I lettered in golf(2), tennis (1), cross country (2), baseball (2). I never considered myself a jock, I just did the same sports that I did away from school. I quit doing sports after my junior year to concentrate on getting ready for college. I never worked on the school paper, but as a senior, several of us put out several editions of our own underground paper called the Free Wombat.— December 5, 2014 2:04 p.m.

don bauder, Leaf may have signed a contract worth $31.25 million,with $11.25 as a signing bonus, but he never saw that much. I think it was a 4 yr deal and SD waived him after 3, so he only got a prorated portion of the signing bonus. As I recall, the no-bonus portion of his contract was on a graduated scale with him receiving something like $13.5 million in the last 2 yrs of the deal. I don't remember how much Dallas signed him for, but I'm sure it wasn't anything close to what his rookie deal was for. And then of course, no matter how much he actually did make, between taxes and agent fees, he was probably lucky if he netted half of it.— December 5, 2014 1:55 p.m.

don bauder, I was using Luck and Wilson as examples of QB's who had great careers in college and carried that performance into the NFL. The only perceived weakness he had out of college was his height. Wilson is all of 1 inch shorter than Drew Brees, about whom the same concerns were expressed.— December 5, 2014 1:28 p.m.

Visduh it happens all the time, almost every year, in almost all major sports. I could easily come up with 20 or 30 in football alone over the 20yrs. For every Andrew Luck or Russell Wilson, there are just as many Robert Griffins.— December 5, 2014 9:20 a.m.
