Busy week at Sweetwater school district
Bvav, the former superintendents and board members selected staff that reflected their leadership style and we are surprised that honesty, transparency, and integrity are no where to be found? The Sweetwater way must be protected in order for them to keep the power in their kingdom and smoke and mirrors are continued to be used to ensure it stays that way. What is even scarier is that these convicted criminals selected the leaders to run our schools and districts based on their values of leadership. And even with them kids were not at the center of their decisions. So we see the lack of transparency at every level with district still trying to justify real estate ventures. Whats suffering most is that we are forced to have to spend time calling out corruption instead of what can we do for kids. And I am seeing that same corruption at the site level, and because its the Sweetwater way no one sees the urgency at the district level.— September 21, 2014 3:32 p.m.
Busy week at Sweetwater school district
I am not a teacher, but I had students at the time when Ms Batista was the principal of both schools. Explain to me Ms Velma how can a high school principal who had 3 major incidents in the paper 1st semester where it showed her ineptness, and then transfer back to a middle school at the end of January, and when tested in April the school improves 40+ points. She was non existence that whole semester and the interventions that the school was awarded for was set up from Ms Batista and Mr. Gonzalez. Its unfortunate that my student today is at a school where discipline and bullying is thrown by the wayside, and any attempts or complaints to the front off office is greeted with rudeness. I am sure the teachers have their own struggles, but I see the difference as a parent. If she couldnt handle high school for a semester how can that rehabilitation take place in 3 months? Mentoring from the district?— September 21, 2014 2:43 p.m.
Busy week at Sweetwater school district
Its typical how things that make it the Sweetwater way. The convicted leadership are the same leadership style throughout the district so they see nothing wrong with how things roll out. So its no wonder that the ipad fiasco costs are out of control with trying to catch up with technology at each of the sites. When they first rolled it out to the middle schools there was very little training if any, and the teachers had to fend for themselves. Heaven forbid the the administrators knew anything about what to do and just like the board members we have...the work to make it happen were the teachers and staff on campus...and the principal took credit for all the good that happened on campus with technology. The Sweetwater way gives credit to the leaders when they had done very little to make it happen. Look into Bonita Vista Middle's California Distinguished Schools. McCann isn't the only one taking credit where credit is not due. Although the 4 board members and 2 former superintendents are no longer here, the leadership and Sweetwater way continues at the middle schools...at least in my kids' community. And just like the board members covered themselves all these years, they continue to cover poor leadership at our school. There are 2 things that the district acts on issues...bad press or lawsuits. We are lucky to have people like you anniej, but its gangster mentality of protecting its own has no interest of whats best for kids. The Sweewater way has definitely shown that its about power, and keeping it to benefit themselves.— September 6, 2014 10:08 a.m.
