Feeding the Beast
I took a Learning Annex course once about nonprofits as well, and have a book or two on the subject. Yes, it's all about the fundraising, and to get the funds, I think there's no getting around the fact that you have to be well-connected, with a wide circle of friends, friends-of-friends and acquaintances. I had/have an idea for an animal-related nonprofit that was never able to get off the ground, due to this very fact. I'm also just NOT the person to do it, frankly. I'm a good idea person, but in addition to having ZERO connections, I'm not at all salesy.— November 14, 2009 8:07 p.m.
Pause For Dramatic Effect
Good Lord. Somebody fetch a bucket. Grant queried: "Is that really his picture? Kinda looks like Paul Stanley of Kiss circa 1975, sans makeup. Where's Magicsfive when you need her?" I don't know where magics is, but I do know who the pic is of. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56HI0Luy_kQ :) Poor Pike. He's lucky it's only 5 road hours to Vegas. Should be plenty of air in the trunk for that short a trip.— November 14, 2009 7:54 p.m.

Feeding the Beast
Walden is most appropriate. :) "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Like most books, it's better read outside. When I lived in San Diego, I did a lot of reading and studying at the zoo, ortucked away in Balboa Park. I think it's called "Palm Walk" or "Palm Canyon" down there. Probably a little cold for that spot, this time of year, though. I've been really interested in nonprofits for a long while, myself. If you have any interest in that area, it might be a good time to learn about those. For depression? If you prefer going natural, I'd say exercise & St. John's Wort. If not, get thee to a shrink before your health benefits run out and get an Rx. :)— November 14, 2009 3:31 p.m.

Alkalinity And Color Theory
Re #22: He is your soulmate, your twin flame, Daniels. You should have run down the street after that POS, shedding your brassiere midjog, just to show you were serious. :)— November 13, 2009 9:15 p.m.

Oobie
I agree with Daniels in #6, about #5. "She was never anything but gracious and a lady, except that time in sixth grade when she caught my friend Johnny trying to look up her dress with a mirror he’d taped onto the toe of his shoe, and she kicked him in the nuts—hard. Johnny fell to his knees and threw up. It was great. At that moment Celeste was immortalized in my mind. Not only was she lovely inside and out, but there was now the added intrigue of her being, when provoked, potentially dangerous." Fantasteriffic!! :)— November 13, 2009 8:52 p.m.

LOL @ #9 & #10!!! Perhaps Pete & Cuddle could go shopping together at the mall, wearing their matching t-shirts. How cute. :) SO sorry I missed the t-shirt game today, Daniels. I was gonna go with these 3: Owls are a-holes. (Link won't post due to the word a-hole in it), and... http://store.theonion.com/product/i-just-love-cor… http://store.theonion.com/product/kitten-thinks-o… (I may have to get this last one.)— November 13, 2009 8:38 p.m.
