What's your reaction to California overturning the same-sex marriage ban?
I did not vote because my viewpoint was not represented in the choices. First of all, I don't mind homosexuality in humans, however I think it is natural among the entire animal kingdom for mating to be between male and female. A certain type of bird practices on other males as do some dogs, but I don't think this is mating. I compare mating to marriage because some species of animals mate for life, which is the intended higher purpose of marriage. The survival of any race depends upon reproduction, which cannot come out of an unnatural relationship without unnatural scientific medical assistance, such as surrogate parenthood. Therefore I think humans who are gay are just that: gay, and this does not constitute a marriage or mating, no matter how long they stay together. That just means they are very loving friends with certain benefits... Second, I don't think it is "wrong" to be homosexual, because I am an agnostic theist who beleives in moral relativism. The Christian viewpoint on marriage is completely irrelevant and ignoramus to me. Third and finally, I do not think California has the right to challenge the federal government by itself. I beleive that when our government was structured, it was intended that the states could all agree to ratify something, but no one state has the authority to challenge the federal govening body by itself. I vote "NAY" to California attempting to overturn the gay "marriage" ban, but not because of the reason stated in the poll. I have no problem with gay marriage if everybody on the face of the earth wants to do that, but let's use the proper channels to do such a thing. An aside, the general consensus about California in other places after the gay marriage thing got in the news (along with every other thing in the news, etc.) is kind of embarrassing to California -that everyone is gay or stupid or both, and that we do not care about rules or laws or morality. Yes, fellow citizens of California, there is something out there greater than yourselves, and it is not the protestors that will save the whales or allow gay people to marry, it is the power of true American democracy that will cause change.— May 21, 2008 2:55 p.m.
