San Diego mayoral debate abruptly canceled...due to pension truth?
Don: My father retired in 1984 from the city. From what I understand, he had the option to continue SS payments that last few years he was with the city, and did so. When he retired, his pension wasn't huge at all, but when coupled with his SS benefits, it was more than enough to continue a comfortable living. It really was too bad that the city eventually pulled all city employees out of the SS system. I would think a much more modest pension, along with SS benefits, would have been enough for most people. But they also saved a great deal, which many people today don't even consider doing.— October 25, 2013 2:01 p.m.

Detroit's "laughable" pension tomfoolery akin to San Diego's
Don: I believe my mother (wife of a former city employee) got one last year. Also, usually when she got a 13th check, the amount was higher (sometimes much higher) than the regular monthly check.— October 24, 2013 9:24 p.m.
San Diego mayoral debate abruptly canceled...due to pension truth?
In San Diego, insanity in government is apparently telling the truth. If Aguirre is insane, let that kind of insanity run all over San Diego politics.— October 24, 2013 6:52 p.m.
