Rabbititis in San Marcos!
Where's Elmer Fudd when you need him?— July 9, 2014 11:29 p.m.
Sorry, Wall Street darling
I guess there wasn't enough room for the Manchester U-T to report this in their MASSIVE Financial section, as it was buried on the 2nd-to-last page of the "A" section this morning.— July 5, 2014 9:44 a.m.
How can convention centers be so dumb?
But Don--that can't be true. Why, if we build a convention center expansion, and combine it with a new stadium for the Chargers, everything will be perfect, right? RIGHT? (tongue planted firmly in cheek--the last time I checked, the stadium/convention center combo in Indianapolis is a money pit)— July 2, 2014 9:36 a.m.
Thirteen things you’ll never see in San Diego again
I really miss Street Scene.— June 26, 2014 11:45 a.m.
A-1, baby
TEMPORARY income and sales tax increases? Ok. A surplus? Fantasy. Speaking of fantasy, the so-called "bullet" train.— June 25, 2014 9:24 p.m.
Tony Gwynn dies at 54
It is just too much to see the words above this article, "Tony Gwynn dies at 54". At least he gets to talk hitting with Ted Williams again, and he gets to hang with Jerry Coleman again as well.— June 17, 2014 8:50 a.m.
Tony Gwynn dies at 54
Don: I think he had loyalty to the Padres based on the financial help he received from the club in 1987 after he was victimized by a former agent. And I am glad he stayed, as are many baseball fans in San Diego.— June 16, 2014 3:29 p.m.
Tony Gwynn dies at 54
He was in pretty bad shape this year--his face was bandaged quite extensively from the cancer treatments, and he was really laboring just walking to the plate before Aztec baseball games this season. Then he went on leave in March. I knew it was a long shot--cancer doesn't give a damn who it affects--but I was hoping he could somehow beat it and get back on the field for the Aztecs. The announcement that he had signed a contract extension gave me some hope that he was doing better and would return. Sadly, that will not be the case. What is really scary to me is that he died at the age of 54; he is 6 years younger than me. Cancer truly sucks. RIP, Tony.— June 16, 2014 11:52 a.m.
Super Bowl "wish list" items are requirements
Don: I mentioned the same thing in the Manchester U-T. A certain faction in this city will be very disappointed. Maybe Canepa is about to retire? Or about to be retired?— June 12, 2014 3:09 p.m.
Super Bowl "wish list" items are requirements
I just keep wondering how San Diego has possibly survived in the 11 years since San Diego last hosted the Super Bowl. I don't give a rat's ass if San Diego ever hosts a Super Bowl again--even if/when they build a new stadium.— June 11, 2014 1:04 p.m.
