Pacific Imperial Railroad opts for bankruptcy
This whole thing has been a train wreck from the beginning. (Sorry--that was too easy)— October 27, 2016 11:21 a.m.
Chargers advertising — lies, lies, lies
Don: The media may be pushing it, but an editorial in today's paper recommended a NO vote on C and D. Then again, this morning in VOSD, an "opinion" piece comes out saying that the numbers support Measure C. Of course, the opinion piece was written (I believe) by the outfit the Chargers hired to come up with those rosy numbers.— October 21, 2016 10:27 a.m.
Coronado bridge lighting project out to bid
Curiously, has Caltrans lowered the voltage on all of the other light fixtures all over the state that have already been replaced with LED fixtures?— October 20, 2016 9:54 a.m.
Mark McGwire admitted using drugs but still has a chance for Hall of Fame
Don: There is an exit fee for the Chargers should they leave SD, but it comes nowhere near paying off the bonds. If the leave after this season, they owe; in 2017--$12.575 million, in 2018--$9.76 mil, in 2019--$6.74 mil, in 2020--$3.49 mil, in 2021, the amount drops to $0, but the city will still owe many millions on that last addition. Yet another reason why I don't think Spanos is leaving--no matter how bad he loses with Measure C. He pays no rent now. He's not leaving.— October 19, 2016 11:15 p.m.
What's in a stadium name?
I'm not sure that they will this time.— October 15, 2016 10:25 p.m.
Chargers advertising — lies, lies, lies
Fred Maas is a weasel (however, I apologize to any and all weasels offended by that remark).— October 15, 2016 5:13 p.m.
Miserly Moores and his minions
Vote NO on C and D.— October 12, 2016 9:40 a.m.
Chargers, mayor, U-T collude on con job
Don: The $556.6 million arena opens this season. All suites/lofts (cheaper suites?) sold out, and there are 12,000 on a waiting list for season tickets. The arena was paid for on a pretty much even split between the city and team. In January, Forbes listed the value of the Kings franchise 18th out of 30 teams, at $925 million. I imagine it will jump significantly this year.— October 10, 2016 11:46 a.m.
NFL's TV tumble and the stadium vote
Don: Most importantly, they lose, which is the worst thing they can do while they are trying to "fire up the base" to get approval for Measure C.— October 9, 2016 9:52 p.m.
Chargers, mayor, U-T collude on con job
Don: Of course they will, but it's amazing that so many don't understand that fact.— October 9, 2016 5:49 p.m.
