An American in Dublin
What a charmless and glib review of my country. That's it eh? An entire culture and country summed up in the usual lazy stereotypes of drink and agriculture, along with a few crap attempts to phonetically portray the accent ("up the rude"..WTF?? I'd leave that to Roddy Doyle if I was you). Having spent a month in California last summer, (from San Fran. to La Jolla), I'd like to think that I'll have a bit more courtesy if I ever review teh Sunshine State than you have done to Ireland. For readers who may be interested in visiting Ireland, the surfing from Sligo to Lahinch is some of the best in Europe. The Beara Peninsula, Clonakilty, Cork City centre, the free entry museums of Dublin (Hugh Lane, National Art Gallery, the Dead Zoo etc.), lunch at the Merrion (Michelin stars abound here) and a round of golf at Doonbeg would be good suggestions. Oh, and helped by the fact that you can get from Dublin to Cork /Galway/Sligo in little over two hours (a legal 75mph the whole way)— February 12, 2014 8:41 a.m.
