PB Police Prepare for Beach Booze Ban
As a resident that has lived in the beach community long enough to enjoy both the young social lifestyle and the married with children lifestyle, I believe the city is making a huge mistake with the ban. Although it does have some benefits they are not worth the negative impacts to our residents. One suggestion that has been proposed and may be the most effective compromise is an alcohol ban on major holidays. Many locals avoid the beaches due to the crowds anyway. I know people would still miss those massive parties on the bay on the 4th, but I also know they would rather be able to enjoy a drink on the beach the rest of the year. Laws like these do not promote individual responsibility and only relocate the problem. Let’s address the problem in a reasonable manner and not continue this absurd overreaction.— June 22, 2008 3:39 p.m.
