New Year's DUI crackdowns begin, SDPD officer injured by suspected drunk in Santee
#In Chula Vista, officers beefed up enforcement by conducting a “saturation patrol,” with extra units on the streets instead of at checkpoints looking for signs of impaired drivers. Units participating in the patrols conducted 114 traffic stops, resulting in four DUI arrests and a fifth for driving under the influence of drugs. This is a much bvetter idea and use of scarce resources.— December 31, 2012 8:33 a.m.
Economy for 2013: San Diego worse than state, nation?
The real estate market got screwed over by Alan Greenspan and insane fiscal policy by the feds, that is the reason. It was in fact NO DIFFERENT from the savings and loan fueled commercial bubble of the late 1980's. People using **other peoples money**, with no skin in the gamer, buying/speculation as much real property as they could get their hands on with OPM. Alan Greenspan, AKA Mr Bubble should have never left interest rates for so low for so long, and NO ONE should be able to purchase real property without a minimum down payment, of at least 20%...I wouldn't give a rats ass if people speculated with OPM as long as the taxpayers didn't get stuck with the losses thru bailouts. Yet we all know tha is what happens in the end. The absolute saddest part f the property bubble/Freddie Mac/ Fannie Mae is that they are still doing no money down loans. My 25 y/o cousin just graduated from a dental hygiene program, a 2 year certificated program, and makes surprisingly good money as an independant contractor, $1500 a week. She bought a $250K Fannie Mae REO with NO MONEY DOWN (Fannie Mae loan). Insane. Completely insnae after what just happened.— December 31, 2012 8:30 a.m.

New San Diego girl tries OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, Christian Mingle, Match.com, eharmony
Wow, interesting list-but very true. One left off is the** "Love walks on the beach"!!!** Yes, but who doesn't??? All I can say is Internet dating is for losers. People who have no personalit and don't want to put in the effort and time needed to make a connectrion. Just my opinion. But there are quality people all over this city and every other city in America. Don't have to be a pretender, just go out and be yourself and be sincere- that is what all people can relate to. When you're resorting to Internet dating yo have already lost IMO.— December 30, 2012 4:52 p.m.

Stolen Corvette surfaces from Morena storage unit 24 years later
The car is stolen property, once it is entered into the database, or documented as stolen, the owner still has title and gets the property back when found. A good example is artwork stolen by the Nazi's in the late 1930's thru 1945. Much of it ended up in museums and private hands, and eventually had to be returned to the rightful owners, who were the heirs to the actual owners, after 60+ years. An extreme example, but accurate. This happens with artwork fairly often. I recall one case where a Stradivarius violin was stolen and found 10 years later and had to be returned. Here is another car example that happene recently; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehTyk9uoQuc— December 30, 2012 5:45 a.m.
