Encinitas City Council Candidate Tony Kranz Accused of “Attack”
Who is going to be enthusiastic about electing another stupid council member, I mean except the people writing these comments, who are probably Kranz's friends and family members. ================ Hey Roger, if you read our profiles you will see we have no affiliation with your nemesis whatsoever, we are all regulars here at the Reader. We just think you're spinning your tall tales a little bit too hard.— October 31, 2010 12:49 p.m.
Escondido Council Candidate Smells Brown Act Violation
In the early 80's it gave away a large piece of parkland (part of Kit Carson Park) to the developer of the regional mall first known as North County Fair. (It was, I think, the last such mall built in the county.) The developer cabal managed to convince the city's residents that they were "missing out" in not having the many stores it brought to the area =============== Ernie Hahn developed North County Fair, and in the 80's and 90's it was a very nice place-I have not been inside in over 20 years though, is Nordstroms still there? Malls have really been going down hill though. Mission Valley was a ghost town until they put in those movie theaters, Fashion Valley was always nice and when they re-did it with the second floor it was even nicer.— October 31, 2010 9:37 a.m.
Change of plans to minister to a laid off friend
There's jobs out there believe;very competitive but you have to keep trying and stay competitive. ====================== There are literally hundreds of applicants for each job opening today. Your chances of getting hired with those numbers comes down to many things beyond your own control. A local water district had a PART TIME-20 hours per week job open up, a good job, and had 450 applicants. That tells you how much of a problem this nation is in today. If anyone saw the "60 Minutes" segment on unemployment last Sunday then you have an idea of how bad things are, and have been......— October 31, 2010 12:19 a.m.
Escondido Council Candidate Smells Brown Act Violation
Several Escondido leaders want the financially ailing city to subsidize the AAA subsidiary of the Padres, owned by the Moorad Group, to the tune of $50 million. A ballpark for the minor league club would attract industry, they contend. ====================== Why do these clowns, already under severe financial constraints including bankruptcy, continue on with these ridiculous corprate welfare give aways-it just does not make ANY sense at all EXCEPT if the officials are receving kickbacks, and kickbacks is the only explanation in my book. And the complete and total nonsense that this would bring in business is ridiculous. Any business it brought in would be offset by 1,000 to 1 in building expenses. How do such stupid people get elected??? Bribes!— October 30, 2010 9:37 p.m.
Horse Sleep, Flatulent Vapor, Prison Life for Disabled
So, what do you see when you see your breath? It’s the moisture you exhale as it moves from the warmth of your body to the cold outside. Warm air can hold more moisture than cold air can, so outside your body the moisture condenses and becomes visible. A fart doesn’t have the requisite water content, so we have no similar telltale butt cloud. ============================== Yeah, but you cant light your breath on fire............— October 30, 2010 8:31 p.m.

City worker retirement pay is simply a colossal ripoff of taxpayers; there is no other way to state it. See for yourself. Best, Don Bauder ================================ You mean like this; . http://www.kusi.com/video?clipId=5235392&topVideo… .— October 30, 2010 4:02 p.m.

Politics in San Diego is a death sport, and too brutal for my sensibilities =================== I knew before you answered that this would be a likely response, and I agree, the brain damage from the special interest pressure would make it a rough job.— October 30, 2010 10:19 a.m.

laplayaheritage, would you consider running for city council?? You would be light years ahead of most members there currently (tied w/DeMaio and Frye). You follow the civic issues as well as anyone and have specific plans to improve the city-which no one else seems to have currently.— October 30, 2010 9:28 a.m.

A great solution to the City scare tactics would be to give all menial jobs to the Alpha Project and the San Diego Urban Corps, who are allowed to pay minimum wage instead of the prevailing wage of $13+ per hour. The City already outsources community cleanups and restoration projects to these two outside non-union groups, that have $1 million in insurance, and the do the job the City Unions won't like brush clearance. Plus they live within City limits, and would be honored to serve our City instead of being unemployed. ====================== Now this is a fantastic solution to some of our problems, not a good solution, a fantastic solution. It pays less (and face it $13 an hour plus whatever benefits for these city jobs is double market rate) which allows MORE people to be employed. Minimum wage in the state today is decent. WHY doesn't the coucil follow this model??? It is a no brainer IMO. I just don't get these people who are leading our City. The Sanders stadium deal is the best example. It is a ridiculous and crazy thing to do, just perposterous, in fact it is about the worst thing the leader of our city could do at this time-yet here he is trying to give away a BILLION dollars while the city is technically bankrupt. Sanders has been the biggest flop as an elected Mayor for as long as I have lived here-worse than Murphy IMO.— October 30, 2010 9:25 a.m.

Before going BK, the City should go to employee unions and confront them with this choice: draconian compensation slashes and layoffs or steep voluntary retirement compensation cutbacks. ============= Will never happen. The ones there now will sell out their future co workers while at the same time forcing HUGE debts on future generations, children, grand children and great grandchildren, so THEY can leech off the current system as much as possible, milk it until it dies. Here is a great link that describes this problem down to the T(short & good read); . http://citywatchla.com/index.php?option=com_conte… .— October 30, 2010 9:19 a.m.
