What's Wall Street Worth? Little, If Anything
There was a time when they existed because they provided efficient access to capital for those who really needed it for productive purposes. Too much of that activity now is just involved in gaming the system. ========================= I think it was in the movie trailer that said the same thing, that Wall Street does very LITTLE actual financing of business endevours. Today it is casino wheel of fortune, where all the profits are privatized and all the losses are socialized onto the poor and middle class.— November 26, 2010 7:58 a.m.

I don't believe them.— November 25, 2010 8:40 p.m.

OK, I'm hooked after seeing the trailer! . http://www.sonyclassics.com/insidejob/ . . http://movies.nytimes.com/2010/10/08/movies/08ins… .— November 25, 2010 4:13 p.m.

Unless you saw how courrupted they were you don't know the half of it. A circus chimp could have done a better job than Seidman.— November 24, 2010 4:59 p.m.
Don’t Lien on Me: The Pala Band Tries to Return to Warner Springs
The casino rumor is a canard, says Pala. Last year, Pala assured owners that it would not build a casino at Warner. But the sales contract indicates “there will be no casinos as long as it is illegal and for ten years,” says Stilwell, the ranch’s general manager. To many at the ranch, this sounds as if the Indians are hedging their bet. Not so, ripostes Pala spokesman Elmets. “The tribe has absolutely no intention of ever building a casino at Warner Springs,” he says. ======================= If they were not going to build a casino they would record that fact in their purchase agreement and then CC&R's. It is that simple. The fact that they are not-or are qualifying it to 10 years-tells me they will build a casino. One thing is for sure-the place is one of the most mismanaged busiensses I have ever seen. The clowns in charge should be tossed out on their cans, and if they won't go on their own then they should sue them to get them tossed out.— November 24, 2010 4:58 p.m.
What's Wall Street Worth? Little, If Anything
and policymakers (Congress) are in the pocket of Wall Street. ============== And therein lies the problem. Policy makers putting themselves and the almighty buck ahead of the good of the nation. You see the same thing on the state and local level with the public unions.— November 24, 2010 4:47 p.m.
Top three free things to do in San Diego?
The Cabrillo National Monument is certainly one of the best, if not thee best, site in San Diego. I buy a year pass, pretty cheap, and go all the time.— November 24, 2010 11:30 a.m.

OMG-you worked for that inept gov agency the RTC?????? Seidman was a bigger jerk off back then than Ben Bernanke is today. I have never seen such mismanagement and incompetence in gov as with what I saw at the RTC with Seidman-and that is saying a LOT!— November 24, 2010 10:43 a.m.
A Woman's Work
"Sit-coms, too, that show fat, lazy men and their hot wives running around waiting on them hand and foot." Yeah, isn't THAT amazing? Physically perfect actresses paired with homely fatties seem to be the TV norm, thereby perpetuating the myth in the minds of similar-looking guys that they all deserve a supermodel -- despite their own appearance. ===================== Yes, I find this pretty funny and amusing myself, and you know it would never happens in real life (which also proves hot women are out for more than personality, which is their claim).— November 23, 2010 11:39 a.m.
Lynn Schenk's Trip to Spain Questioned
Refried-I agree with EVERYTHING you just posted-WHY on earth we are spending this type of money (and already there things are going sideways ala the board that is in charge and it's scandel) for something that will have limited value is just beyond me. it does not make sense. The BART system in the Bay Area is heavily subsidized by sales tax revenue-but they get much less traffic so that makes sense! And it i slocal and serves an on point purpose. High speed rail is a joke-it's costs will be so far out of line with economic reality that we might as well flush those billions down the toilet-at least then we would not have upkeep on a white elephant.— November 23, 2010 11:30 a.m.
