"Cheap" nuclear power a myth, suggests economist
Nobody died from radiation at Fukushima. But, burning of fossil fuels and climate change may well spell doom for our world as we know it. More nuclear power means less climate change, fewer wars in the Middle East, and fewer oil spills and environmental catastrophes. The new, modern reactors are safer on orders of magnitude than the old reactors. The nuclear scare tactics just don't hold water any longer. But climate change is real.— December 30, 2013 10:58 p.m.
"Cheap" nuclear power a myth, suggests economist
Nuclear power is dirt cheap when you consider there's no Middle East Oil involved, and, more importantly, there are virtually zero greenhouse has emissions. Convoluted logic to the contrary not withstanding.— December 29, 2013 7:18 p.m.
Sweetwater school district invites more suspicion
Professional politician With ties to Seville construction Mary Salas is running for CV Mayor. Too bad Cox can't run again. Only decent mayor we've had in a long long time.— December 22, 2013 11:34 p.m.
Sweetwater school district invites more suspicion
Jim Delgado is a crooked thug. He should never be in any position of public trust. And speaks volumes of Pearl Quinones lack of integrity and maturity.— December 22, 2013 7:21 p.m.
Sweetwater school district invites more suspicion
Another example of board shenanigans is the Prop R oversight board at Southwestern College. All of the members of that board are cronies and political donors of the governing board of trustees. Again, people appointed to these boards should not be political hacks. It's unethical and wrong.— December 22, 2013 1:58 p.m.
City attorney Goldsmith met with NASSCO shipbuilders
This is an article in search of a story.— December 21, 2013 2:12 p.m.
Sweetwater school district invites more suspicion
Pearl Quinones is such a crook. But anyway, why do these D-List political player wannabes always get appointed to boards? Malcolm?! These boards should be populated by people that have not been involved in politics.— December 21, 2013 1:20 p.m.
Sweetwater trustee Arlie Ricasa to resign
Ricasa got off easy! I hope Pearl Quinones, Cartmill and Lopez don't get off as easy. Ricasa and Quinones have a long history of sketchy legal and ethical problems and should not be in a position of public trust. That includes Ricasa's cushy six-figure income at Southwestern College. And this isn't about Brand at all. Don't cloud this criminal behavior with your dislike of Brand, those are other issues. I bet Pearl is going to go for a jury trial hoping for a sympathetic jury. But hopefully the trial won't be held in the South Bay where she can intimidate jurors like she's intimidated people throughout her various positions.— December 19, 2013 9:17 a.m.
San Diego Puppy sues slew of entities over pet-store ban
San Diego Puppy Mill should be closed down, County-wide. These people are horrible.— November 26, 2013 2:58 p.m.
The legacy of poor undergrounding in Kensington/Talmadge
It's mind boggling there were/are no County standards and codes for this. Why embark on a major public works project without really knowing what the contractors are going to do? Contractors probably did not have detailed guidance. And no one along the way said "stop" this is not what we want, until after the fact.— October 29, 2013 4:21 p.m.
