Gimme Danger
Mr. Marks, I will NEVER LISTEN to you again! Went to see AQUARIUS with high, high expectations, and other than the postcard pretty photography, I came away appalled at what is clearly the WORST movie of the year--even worse than GIRL ON A TRAIN!!! What the blank kind of climax was THAT??? Aaaarrrghhhhh!!!! Still love ya, though!— November 5, 2016 5:02 p.m.

"He still loves outliers isolated by their beliefs," Jaguar Paw in APOCALYPTO simply didn't want to get sacrificed! That's why he ran!!!— November 5, 2016 4:58 p.m.
All abuzz for American Honey
So WHY the blank did no one review THE BATTLE OF ALGIERS??? I know at least Mr. Marks would have given it a good review!— October 24, 2016 10:39 a.m.
7500 Africans and Haitians without money or housing in Tijuana
Cardwell, get your facts straight first. 1) Although Haitians may well speak French, they commonly speak CREOLE, NOT French. Especially the rural people. 2) The "Zona Norte" is a section of the city that borders the US border. It is NOT synonymous with their "red light district," accurately called "Zona de Tolerancia." This smaller "zona" is WITHIN the Zona Norte. There dental offices in the Zona Norte as well as an AM radio station.— October 7, 2016 2:45 p.m.

Mr. Marks, although I don't always understand or agree with your reviews, you know more about world cinema than anyone I know, including myself! You should be teaching a class. Now, last Friday I drove up to Hollywood for the premiere of DOG EATS DOG which was playing along with TAXI DRIVER, (which by now I've seen more times than Hinkley since he has been confined), and an in-person appearance by Schrader and Nick Cage. During the very brief q & a he was asked about filmmaking rules and the breaking of them. Schrader answered that THERE ARE NO RULES. Specifically, to the question, Schrader breaks the so-called "180 degree rule" in DOG EATS DOG. That got me recalling our brief exchange over your bashing of Gibson's THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. "He starts off by breaking the 180-degree rule," you said. Now, I see that you merely were looking for a pretext, ANY pretext to bash him and his film for obvious political reasons. Isn't that correct, Mr. Marks??? Just like your about-face on Gus van Sludge.— October 3, 2016 1:30 p.m.
