Yes, AG. I know the inventor and co-owner of the company, and my cousin takes care of US relations for the product, which is worn by Beyonce, Madonna, etc. etc. etc. They are keeping it exclusive at the moment, doing Vogue shoots. I think they should make Minx more available to the everyday woman--I'm stopped on the street constantly, and wish I had more answers for the Minx-hungry public. Yes, magics. I think we might have skull & crossbones designs. There are Harley Davidson ones too, which are sort of rock-n-roll. On election night, we had Minx with an actual photo of Obama on each nail :) Refried, sounds way worse than my "Liz Franks" injury. I hope you people won that game!— August 6, 2009 10:11 p.m.

That's probably best, SurfPuppy. I have had relatives fall for any number of scams, and one still has a s***load of boxes of "StemEnhance" pills in her garage, the old blue-green algae snake oil, repackaged and resold under a new name. Many of them are vague about why they quit these things, and just go on to the next craze read about in the Reader's Digest, without learning a thing.— August 6, 2009 4:48 p.m.

Yeah, I know. From the first link I provided: "Literature of the NuSkin company (subsidiary of Amway) claimed that distributors could make $5,000 to $10,000 per month, but 98% of all distributors earned an average of $38 a month . Even the well-established Amway company has not been able to deliver on the sweet dream for most of its people. In the mid-1990s, the company had 14,000 employees, over 3 million distributors internationally, and global sales of $7 billion. Yet the average monthly gross income of "active" Amway representatives was less than $90." Sweet dreams are made of...— August 6, 2009 4:07 p.m.

Magics, I "stand" corrected. You have got a great memory--yes, I had the blue and silver "moons" on when you saw them. For you, I can get rock-n-roll themes, like patterns of tiny skulls on a black background. Right now I'm wearing black ones with a great silver dragon--they just keep coming up with amazing designs.— August 6, 2009 3:44 p.m.

Hey AG, that is EXACTLY what the boot looks like. Attractive, aren't they? :) I'd be curious to know how long you had to wear yours, Gringo. Joe, I agree. Something should be left to the imagination! :) BTW, all: Check out singleandawesome's blogs. She's got great narrative voice, and is always very entertaining: http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/the-single-… Magics: Next time you scoot your hind down here for a visit, I'll Minx your toenails, dear--something to look forward to. I think I had on the checkered black, gold, and cream Minx when you saw them. There are a multitude of Minx patterns and colors, but you can't get them done very many places, and it is expensive. I would mail you some for your toes, but would need to show you how to put them on. It's easy once you get a demo. Just use a hairdryer and a glass file--like a sticker, with heat application.— August 6, 2009 3:41 p.m.
Shout Out to Real Boobs
Single, you rock! Keep the blogs coming :) "Doctors can poke and prod and check for more lumpiness than is usual with ease as the fat and skin provide little resistance for this medical fondling." Interesting fact, and good to know. When the 'time' comes, you know you can always consider a slight reduction or lift, in lieu of implants.— August 6, 2009 3:07 p.m.

re:#34: "How the world's religions rather suddenly moved to fundamentalism -- Judaism, Islam, Christianity -- is a very interesting topic." I agree, Mr. Bauder. A fascinating topic, and one that should fuel many a dissertation. re: #35: "Amways IS a fundamentalist religion." Very true statement, and a religion that combines a potent blend of MLM structuring (discipline), product sales and promise of riches (appeal to greed), and 'answers' for the lost soul (paternal attention/discipline). "Erik Prince's sister's husband is a scion of the Amway family." Wow! It would be fabulous if you did a piece on this. Curious that Amway is here not considered as properly defined as a Ponzi scheme: http://www.quackwatch.org/search/webglimpse.cgi?a… I've known a few people scammed by "JuicePlus," one of the many many fraudulent products peddled by Amway. For great personal testimonies about Amway, its subsidiaries, and their cult-like activities, as well as a list of legal actions and descriptions: http://www.rickross.com/groups/amway.html— August 6, 2009 2:55 p.m.

Btw, rickeysays, I'm surprised you haven't been quoting our homegrown "brain-is-all" theorists, namely the Churchlands, conducting their research right smack here at UCSD...— August 6, 2009 2:32 p.m.
Driving Drunk Is Not Easy
rickeysays, I hope you are just cutting and pasting, and saving your wrist tendons :) re: #32: The APA is absolutely going to advise against trying to change a person's sexual orientation. However, the APA would shake its collective head gravely at your reductive conclusion, and odd use of this guideline to assume that people are nothing but their biology. Have you searched any current contents for research conducted by APA associates? Sit down with any psychiatrist, and s/he will fill you in. Same goes for the fields of sociology and anthropology, as I have mentioned. There is indeed a "missing link" or two here. Your account of the rise in teen sexual activity and pregnancies is accurate, and the actions of the recent administration, as well as some ongoing campaigns on the part of the Catholic church have been misled and naïve to say the least, deluded and repressed as they are about human sexuality and development. Certainly, the sexual drive is a strong one, and can override any available information about sexually communicable diseases. Teens are motivated by combination of developmental exploration and pushing limits, as well as biological drive; and many have not yet learned to control their sexual drives, or anticipate the consequences of their actions. Again, we cannot jump from the premise that sexual orientation and sexual drive equates an inability on the part of human beings to modify or rethink behavior.— August 6, 2009 2:21 p.m.

re: #29: "Wasn't our chum Cheney an integral player (as ex-Halliburton/KBR CEO) in granting Blackwater unfettered access into Iraq?" Dubbya, it is my humble understanding that Halliburton originally hired Blackwater to guard one of its subcontractor's convoy. Blackwater stayed on to reap the spoils.— August 6, 2009 12:25 p.m.
