“Don’t cry sis, everything is going to be alright!”
Those were my brother’s words to us after he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (of the bile duct) in October of 2009.~
Only given 6 months to a year. Our family was devastated!!!
Our attitudes quickly changed after my brother taught us to Believe…and Never Give Up~!!!
“This is God’s plan…my journey and I’m okay with it! We’ll hang out again!”
My brother Jesse was a musician. A drummer extraordinaire! He was my older brother who protected me from bullies growing up! His unconditional love was always apparent. I looked up to him in many ways. I gave up my job as a M.A.C. Makeup artist to care for my brother. I took my art bag everywhere I went…every doctors appointment, every hospital visit and all of his hydration and chemo treatments. We would spend hours, and it gave me time to create a little “thank you art” for the doctors and nurses and even other patients. Dr.Bessudo’s office is filled with my Art! Scripps Memorial Encinitas displays my art all around~I’m told it’s been seen in their break rooms! Ask anyone in ER! Especially nurse Karen Kay! She could tell you about the Love and Inspiration that my brother gave! The courage he had when he was so ill, yet he was always so calm and respectful to all the nurses and doctors. I wanted to “Thank” them in every possible way for taking wonderful care of my brother! I did it through my Art!
My brother lost his battle in May of 2012.~
I’m the First ever Illustrator for Project Anti-Bully!
My Dreams are coming true ONLY NOW…because my brother has led me the path…his inspiration has built a wonderful future for me in Art and helping others. The letters I receive from around the world, telling me how much my art has inspired them or touched their hearts.*
It’s a wonderful feeling!
I am blessed~ so truly grateful.~
Blessed to have had a big brother like Jesse~!
Peace~Love & Rock~N~Roll~!!!
