Glide control to Torrey Pines
Mr. Van Roekel: It's a play on the lyrics of a David Bowie song - " Ground Control to Major Tom"— August 31, 2016 1:02 p.m.
Glide control to Torrey Pines
**The gliderport parking lot has been STOLEN from the taxpayers:** The Torrey Pines Gliderport has become an **unofficial UCSD parking lo**t with the city receiving **zero** **income** and the taxpayers (and importantly also - tourists) who want to use the beach and gliderport absolutely **zero places** to park. If you want to park there to hike or surf or whatever, you have to be there before 8 AM or ALL the spots will be taken by students who park their cars, grab their backpacks and head east to UCSD. The spaces are taken **ALL DAY LONG** with no relief until classes end in the PM. Imagine what it would be like if the **parking lot at La Jolla Shores** was taken over by UCSD students cars all day long. **Safety Concerns:** Not only it is **wrong of them** to take over the parking lot, they park their vehicles so tightly that emergency vehicles such as fire engines and ambulances cannot drive through to access the cliff edge for rescues. **Something has to give**: Either pave it and put parking meters on the spaces with maximum 2 hour time limit (which also screws the recreational user) or designate a **definite** portion of the lot - (preferably close to the gliderport) **NON-UCSD PARKING.** Failing meters, the City of San Diego should charge the UC system at least $10 million per year for the use of the lot. UCSD can add the cost to the tuition of the students. In the meantime, the UC system SHOULD be building multistory parking structures **ON CAMPUS**.— August 31, 2016 12:59 p.m.
"[Breast] Size Matters" billboard down, controversy over
"billboard down, controversy over" Does this mean it went tits - up?— August 30, 2016 5:25 p.m.
Taxpayers association thumbs down Chargers proposal
There HAS GOT TO be...dyslexia in me. Too many edits prior to posting. (sigh).— August 30, 2016 1:01 p.m.
Stingray incidents spike in San Diego waters
"Stingray Incidents Spike" - I get it. Cute. It's like "Leopard Sharks Spotted Off La Jolla Shores! ". or maybe: "Sea Urchins In Prickly Situation! " Now, back to CMH for me.— August 30, 2016 9:19 a.m.
"The Chargers are cheap and manipulative"
I love the idea from Bosa's mommy that her son should "pull an Eli Manning" and go elsewhere....— August 30, 2016 9:08 a.m.
Pokémon goes to Coronado and stays there
How come they're not hunting them in City Heights, Southeast San Diego (or whatever you call it now), Skid Row - i.e. Father Joe's Village area, or Barrio Logan?— August 30, 2016 9:04 a.m.
Taxpayers association thumbs down Chargers proposal
Once the Chargers have left town, change the Q into a football (soccer) pitch, and have international friendlies there. Our national mens and womens teams could play other countries. Other countries could play there also. Who wouldn't mind coming to San Diego for a match?— August 26, 2016 9:20 p.m.
Taxpayers association thumbs down Chargers proposal
There HAS to got be a relatively new high school stadium in which the Chargers can play. Cathedral Catholic High School in beautiful Carmel Valley perhaps? There are probably enough Charger fans in the county to fill *that* stadium. They can sell prayer beads instead of alcohol in hope of a Charger win - *or at least advancing the ball ten yards for a first down*.— August 25, 2016 12:56 p.m.
Yellow Deli People: mellow believers or cult of opportunists?
Oh, and don't forget to break out the Kool Aid...— August 15, 2016 8:36 a.m.
