Could Chargers fan boycott cripple hotel magnates?
The stadium saga doesn't seem to be as much about football as it is a competition between "fans" and "non-fans." The fans want so desperately to win to validate their spectator sport is still relevant in a world of vastly more entertaining options. By the way, these two "groups" pulled off an admirable publicity stunt for a pair that can't rub two nickles together. I recall the "coalition" claims "non-profit" status and in 6 months has raised a whooping $1,000.— May 18, 2016 9:10 a.m.
Mexico City: beyond the border and beaches
I agree with a lot of what you shared. I have been there many times and always felt safe. You do well to not behave like a tourist, and respect local culture. Be modest, don't wear shorts where locals are not wearing them. Most American deaths in Mexico are in car accidents, not narco-terrorism or street crime. If you are flexible, you can find r/t airfares for flights from Tijuana to Mexico City for under $300. Once you get to there you can find nice places to stay on AirBNB for under $100 a night as well as many reasonable hotels. The Metro is fantastic and cheap! 5 pesos (27 cents) to go across town. If you are staying for a while, you can sign up for a EcoBici card and use the bike sharing system. Travel services charge $75 to take you to the pyramids at Teotihuacan. You can do it yourself for under by taking the Metro (27 cents) to the Terminal de Autobuses del Norte and buying a bus ticket ($6.16).— May 16, 2016 12:15 p.m.

You had better read that lease carefully (particularly the condemnation clause) and get business interruption insurance. When eminent domain is used, the landowner gets all the proceeds.— May 9, 2016 5:25 p.m.
A big "NO" to pro basketball in Seattle
When I lived in Seattle I became a huge Sonics fan. I attended dozens of games and this was when they were in the play-offs. Key Arena is a very nice venue with nice luxury boxes and lot's of parking due to a parking structure built next to it. I cannot understand why the NBA has to have something else built. By the way, they can have hockey games in the Key Arena. They have hosted them and they host ice shows (like Disney) every year.— May 8, 2016 7:49 p.m.
A big "NO" to pro basketball in Seattle
Isn't this also about building a new arena? Apparently the Key Arena is not good enough.— May 8, 2016 3:57 p.m.
