Physician's assistant brings on physician's demise
Well I just had a friends cousin die of an overdose of "heroin" in a city of 12,000 folks. It's becoming an epidemic in small towns where you would never imagine a drug problem. Most of the "heroin" is not heroin, but Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid analgesic that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent. Since the addicted user doesn't know what a safe dosage is, they shoot up the same dosage as before and the Fentanyl kills them. Fentanyl was rarely known or abused, until recently. Until Kristin Rossum faked the suicide of her husband (using Fentanyl stolen from the San Diego Police Crime Lab), in the "American Beauty" killing years back, not many people have ever heard of Fentanyl. But Fentanyl is what is really killing heroin addicts.— October 30, 2016 9:25 p.m.

U-T print circulation continues to plummet
Kind of off topic, but about newspapers. I have been a precinct volunteer for over 10 years. Many people bring their sample ballots, but I discovered a surprising number of people who bring the SDUT's Endorsement page with them and vote off of it.— October 28, 2016 2:05 p.m.

Former gas station turned into hot La Mesa lunch spot
This property has not been a gas station in over 50 years! It was "All Things Bright and British" from 1980 until 2014. Then British Village Shoppe for a couple of years. It's a stretch calling it a "former gas station" when it has not served that function in half a century.— October 25, 2016 11:35 a.m.

Mark McGwire admitted using drugs but still has a chance for Hall of Fame
Well we do have something personal in common. I collect typewriters too. I have since I was an Apple Computer dealer and the dealer group agreed to keep our typewriters, but use Applewriter (a word processing program). I now own ten typewriters, the oldest was manufactured in 1890. I have a modern Smith Corona cartridge that I used in sixth grade. An IBM Selectric with 10 fonts.— October 23, 2016 11:30 p.m.
