Forbes eyed SD for Amazon and got it wrong
This is the list of 20 finalists from Amazon. The only finalist west of the Rocky Mountains is Los Angeles. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2018/j…— January 18, 2018 12:40 p.m.
Local tourism rose in year without Chargers
They must have been under capitalized or mismanaged. The Chargers leaving did not cause their problems, it may have just been the last straw. San Diego used to have several Trophy's Sports Bars (including a unit near Petco Park), and they went out of business long before the Charger's left. Why? Because their overpriced food sucked and they were mismanaged.— January 14, 2018 7:27 p.m.
Local tourism rose in year without Chargers
I’ve posted this is the past and feel it’s worth sharing again. Years ago I worked in aerospace at McDonnell-Douglas Long Beach (now Boeing) and later at Convair and General Dynamics Space Systems in San Diego. At all of the plant buildings I worked in there were newspaper stands in front of the security gates. Employees (mostly male) would buy the newspaper, and then toss everything but the sports section. In the large bathrooms within these various plants would always be the sports pages stuffed away inside the toilet stalls. I learned that a majority of the newspaper buyers were only interested in the sports section. I was always interested in the business section. But that is a different story. The only observation I came away with was that blue collar union employees liked the sports section and management enjoyed the other sections (as well as sports). Anyway, sports news has always been a big driver of subscription and newsstand sales. The loss of sports news has an outsized impact on the revenues of local news providers whether it is print, TV, radio or internet.— January 14, 2018 7:24 p.m.
North County congressman Issa to retire
Issa has a net worth that could easily be used to acquire homes in about every district in California, at the same time. He's not a servant of the people, he is drunk on power and addicted to power. What does he know about the needs of the 50th district? If Issa would actually relocate and run for a wounded Republican's office proves out what a jackal he is.— January 13, 2018 9:12 p.m.
Partner dispute spells the end of Oceanside Ale Works
Visdah, agreed. I have been in a few business partnerships, one of them was miserable. Bad partnerships are worse than a bad marriage. With a marriage, you can move out, and move on. But a partnership in most cases you are going to lose “your job” and the business as well as other annoyances. Older and wiser you also realize that there needs to be some compromise and deal making because you’re both in it together and there are two sides to every story. Also, too many partnerships do not have well prepared agreements that should be the guide to enforce and resolve such situations.— January 13, 2018 3:52 p.m.
Partner dispute spells the end of Oceanside Ale Works
Jeff Bridges plays Jeff Lebowski who insists on being called "the Dude," a laid-back, easygoing burnout who happens to have the same name as a millionaire whose wife owes a lot of dangerous people a whole bunch of money -- resulting in the Dude having his rug soiled, sending him spiraling into the.... Kinda like this beer brewing partnership.... down the toilet. Not to fret, I heard Kim Dotcom just changed his name (again) to Kim Blockchain (to be relevant). Maybe Dude Brands can claim to be the first Beer Blockchain, have an ICO and put that failed partnership in the rear-view mirror and gallop on to Beer Brewing Blockchain riches. I've seen crazier things, like the subject beer can.— January 11, 2018 6:56 p.m.
Nuclear waste at the beach saves money is why
Move SDG&E and Sempra Energy offices to the San Onofre site. There's plenty of land, parking and that view of those lovely boob-like radioactive time-bombs. If all the suits had to work within a few yards of that nuclear waste site, they might think differently about the problem being that if would be in their face.— January 11, 2018 5:57 p.m.
Rent-control guy for city council
Cole needs to go. That is for certain.— January 11, 2018 5:53 p.m.

North County congressman Issa to retire
The rumor today is that Issa is considering running for Duncan Hunter Jr.'s seat. If that happens and Issa wins, they won't need to bleach the office, the stench will return within days.— January 11, 2018 4:47 p.m.
