**Rats Across San Diego protest KGTV Channel 10 recent news story "Rats Invade Imperial Beach Home"** Spokesrodent Turdy McRat told me "Channel 10 needs to get their act together. No self respecting rat would set foot into Imperial Beach. Their city hall is full of rats but the two legged kind and we don't mix. The home my brethren have invaded is in the Nestor neighborhood but that is in San Diego not Imperial Beach. I've been in contact with Gloria Allred as were thinking of bringing a suit against reporter Cristin Severance and 10 News for defamation of character. We demand an apology."

"The Walking Dead" motorhome as seen on the TV show. Note the similarities between the two RV's.

**Imperial Beach Sheriff Deputies tow away "The Walking Dead" motorhome** *"Expired tags" explains deputy.* On Thursday September 12, 2013 residents near the corner of Florence Street and Grove Avenue awoke to the site of an old Winnebago motorhome parked on the street. When I saw it it reminded me of the motorhome Dale drove in the first two seasons of "The Walking Dead". It was last seen burning outside a barn on Hershel Greene's farm after walkers broke in and devoured the driver Jimmy. On the following Monday San Diego Sheriff deputies supervised as an employee of Cortes Towing prepared the RV to be towed. The deputies told me the RV's tags expired in 2009 and that it had been abandoned on the street for 6 months. My face my have expressed disbelief on that last fact as the deputy then said "We are towing it because of the expired tags." I then asked the deputy if he had seen "The Walking Dead" he said he had and I told him of the similarities between the two RV's. "Yeah" he said "It looks like it but I don't think this one could survive a Zombie Apocalypse."

**Hit and Run involving skater and bicyclist outside Mar Vista High School** *"It hurt" recalls victim.* Last Tuesday morning September 10, a 14 year old freshman arriving at Mar Vista High School on his skateboard said he was rundown "by a big guy on a big bicycle. I was knocked down and my forehead hit the blacktop. I was dizzy but I heard someone say 'Dude are you all right? I didn't see you.' " When the freshman came to his senses the bicyclist was gone. "My backpack was shredded. I was wearing a jacket but a big hunk of skin on my arm was missing." The school nurse called the freshman's parents to take him home and said he may have a concussion and warning him not to go to sleep. What does the freshman remember most about the accident? "It hurt" he said.

**The bike that was too ugly to be stolen** So the bike I said was too ugly to be stolen was stolen this morning Saturday September 7, at around 8:30 am from the South Bay Drive-In Swap Meet just outside Imperial Beach/Nestor. My Schwinn Beach Cruiser, white with blue trim. The left peddle is missing the rubber so it's only a post. The seat cover is missing so it's only the plastic base with a hunk of foam covered by a plastic shopping bag. The rear reflector is attached using a zip tie. It's got rust but a very nice black front basket that can detach and act as a shopping basket. It was chained and locked by the front entrance in the same place I've been parking my bike and mopeds for the last 20 years. Security guard Bob said a homeless guy is suspected of stealing bikes in the area and they believe he had even stolen their security bike parked right outside the security booth. Bob took down my info and said he would tour the back 40 where the tweakers, methheads and homeless hang out. The photos not very good it's cropped from the background from one of my news photos. Not expecting to see it again but have a hard time believing anyone thought it was worth stealing. It is a Schwinn but from the 1980's when they were made in China so the welds are huge. So just in case you see it along side the road somewhere give me a holler.

**Should homeless people working as sign spinners be paid minimum wage?** At the Vons/Walmart shopping center at 19th Street and Saturn Blvd in San Diego several stores utilize homeless people to spin signs advertising their stores. A security guard at the center says “It’s better then having them pan handle.” The female spinning the sign for a sandwich shop supposedly gets $10 per day while the several individuals who spin the sign for a new smoke shop average $20 for a six hour shift. I feel regardless of who is doing the work they should be paid at least minimum wage.

**Parks and Recreation? No money. Fireworks? No money. STOP signs? Plenty of money.** Days after City of Imperial Beach councilman Patrick Bilbray told Sports Park supporters that there was no money in the budget to run the Parks and Recreation Dept. City officials released a statement letting residents know there will be no Big Bay Boom Fourth of July fireworks show in Imperial Beach this year: “The city isn't sponsoring the fireworks because of the cost and the funds could be spent on other projects." Meanwhile a city employee was busy replacing all the stop signs in town with brand new ones that are six inches larger then the old ones.

**Surf Dog Competition** Big crowds in Imperial Beach during this past Saturdays Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition held along side the I.B. pier. Not happy the sponsors (Petco) kept local businesses from participating and allowed operation of a 100 seat beer garden at this traditional family event. Only positive note was that the beer garden had no more then 3 people at any one time. Might have been the $15 for the 20oz of locally made pizzwater.

**Not so bored in IB** Just yesterday Thursday June 20th I complained I was bored as there was nothing happening in IB. Today the San Diego Sheriff SWAT Team set up a command center outside my gate. They were getting ready to charge a second floor condo when the felon's mother called him and convinced him to surrender. The wanted felon had barricaded himself inside a strangers condo and was throwing furniture out the window at deputies. Neighbors describe the inside of the condo as "trashed." I submitted the story to the Readers Neighborhood Stories.

We demand an apology." http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/s…— September 20, 2013 4:48 p.m.

"The Walking Dead" motorhome as seen on the TV show. Note the similarities between the two RV's. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/s…— September 17, 2013 5:01 p.m.

"Yeah" he said "It looks like it but I don't think this one could survive a Zombie Apocalypse." http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/s…— September 17, 2013 4:52 p.m.

"It hurt" he said.— September 15, 2013 3:41 p.m.

So just in case you see it along side the road somewhere give me a holler. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/s…— September 7, 2013 7:09 p.m.

I feel regardless of who is doing the work they should be paid at least minimum wage. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jul/0…— July 1, 2013 6:09 p.m.

**Parks and Recreation? No money. Fireworks? No money. STOP signs? Plenty of money.** Days after City of Imperial Beach councilman Patrick Bilbray told Sports Park supporters that there was no money in the budget to run the Parks and Recreation Dept. City officials released a statement letting residents know there will be no Big Bay Boom Fourth of July fireworks show in Imperial Beach this year: “The city isn't sponsoring the fireworks because of the cost and the funds could be spent on other projects." Meanwhile a city employee was busy replacing all the stop signs in town with brand new ones that are six inches larger then the old ones. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/2…— June 27, 2013 4:48 p.m.

Might have been the $15 for the 20oz of locally made pizzwater. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/2…— June 24, 2013 5:18 p.m.

Neighbors describe the inside of the condo as "trashed." I submitted the story to the Readers Neighborhood Stories. http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/2…— June 21, 2013 4:48 p.m.
