"The girl and a friend took some nude photos of themselves using camera phones, an increasingly common (and depressing) phenomena. Then her friend forwarded a pic to a boy, who sent the image to his friends and soon it made it's way to the football team, the student body and eventually to administrators. The girl's parents were called in and were understandably horrified. The school then kicked the girls off the cheer-leading team. The boys who distributed the photo were not disciplined in any way." Who started this? It is unfortunate, but this is what kids do. Like you said, an increasingly common (and depressing) phenomena. Why are young women doing these things? Low self-esteem? You seem to think that based on their sex (female), they should be exempt from discipline due to an existing "boys will be boys" mentality. They did something stupid and got caught. What they did was horrifying to the parents because it involved their daughter nude, not smoking pot or shoplifting. An increasingly common (and depressing) phenomena. Take it a step further. What if it had been nude photos of the boys that one of the boys sent to a girl? Of course the double-standard would apply. Everyone would think it was funny, not child pornography. We talk about this at length. Yes, the boys should have been punished equally. Anyone involved in this should have shared the same consequences.— March 18, 2009 3 p.m.

Oh, I just remembered something. Just an example of how entitled food service people feel toward your tips, I was at a restaurant and the bill came. I had added a $100.00 gift certificate to the bill, which I was paying. I pondered aloud whether I should add a small tip for the gift cert, and one of our party said "I used to be a waiter. You should tip on the entire bill." Yeah, people that bring their problems to work make it difficult for everyone. All of us have encountered that person who, if they are pissed about something, gets all quiet and stern-faced and you are afraid to even cross their path. The schools all pander to the parents these days! I would hate to be a teacher in this climate. I hear horror stories from teachers who say they are not allowed to look cross-eyed at a student for fear of the wrath of some outraged parent who thinks their kid walks on water. The GIRL should be suspended. She's the one that put her butt out there. And then sent to a counselor, on the parents dime, of course, to get her back on track. I feel bad for her. She is just a kid.
