Bob Kuczewski – arrested at Torrey Pines glider port again
Phil, have you visited the park? It's far from exclusive to pilots as it's open to the public and on any given day gets more attendance by sightseers than anyone. Like any privately or publicly operated venue, people "can" and should be excluded if they've proven to be a threat to public safety. Harass someone at the Prado Restaurant (a privately leased venue in Balboa park) you'll get ejected. Become a nuance at Mt. Laguna campground, the camphost will ask you to leave. The issue of public safety becomes compounded in this case because the venue in question is an active aviation facility. Instructors are teaching students how to fly. A harasser is doing more than interrupting your dinner or keeping you awake in your tent, they're putting peoples lives at risk. As a newer student to the glider port, I've come to understand the level of professionalism and safety the staff have put in place there. The rules and discretion of the staff provide the public access to the facility while keeping them and pilots safe. The in larger context of this story, for someone to have total disregard for the lives of others and intentionally harass and distract an instructor while on fight deck is inexcusable.— June 22, 2015 12:26 p.m.
