Mission Beach land-use ordinance kicked in the teeth
Trust me the only way to solve this is for the residents/community to sue the city and developers. There is no other way to stop these illegal projects. Our Councilmember, Lori Zapf, could not care less about what the community and residents want. Even if the project is illegal and proven illegal she still would not support the residents. Instead of being outraged she actually supports the lawbreakers!! The elementary school project had our community leaders and community groups against the project. The president of the MBTC and the president of the MBPPB both spoke against the project at city council. In addition there were protest gatherings, there were t-shirts made, there was news coverage, all to no avail. If those two groups (MBTC and MBPPB) can't stop an illegal project then there is no hope. It's pretty sad but the truth of the matter is the only way to protect your rights down in this area is to sue the city and developers!— April 20, 2016 10:23 a.m.
No new Mission Beach lifeguard station
Forget all the illegal aspects of the case for a second. Has anyone been down to the construction site lately??They are building the new lifeguard command center in a FLOOD ZONE!!!! The station is underwater. The city is now wasting even more tax payer money by building a 10 ft high and 300 yard long wall of sand to stop the flooding. I guess that's what happens when you rely on an environmental study from 2005.— December 29, 2015 5:01 p.m.
Mission Beach to wait longer for new lifeguard tower
Not one thing Mike Johnson commented was correct.— September 7, 2015 4:41 a.m.
