Teenage grocery worker files complaint over union dues
Good for this kid! I hope he gets all his illegally withheld money back, an apology for shady business practices from the Union and, a promotion from Ralphs for showing some leadership qualities. Too many people just act like sheep. If there are any retaliatory act by the union leadership we should all boycott Ralphs in support of this kid and his principles.— September 6, 2013 8:45 a.m.
Sheriff's department to seek reimbursement for search-and-rescue costs
Sadly Captain, your statement is truer than you may believe. The era of self reliance and accountability has come to an end. Nowadays it all about me me me. From endless Facebook narcissism to government redistribution of anything it can and will to those who just take, take, and then take some more. I hope the County follows through with this cost recovery policy.— September 4, 2013 9:12 a.m.
Sheriff's department to seek reimbursement for search-and-rescue costs
This is a good move in the right direction! The county should also post signs in areas where this happens all to frequentlently. While there is no doubt in my mind the signs will be vandalized they will remind those who are irresponsible there are consequences, i.e. they will be held financially accountable to the taxpayers who rescue their a$$es.— September 3, 2013 7:32 a.m.
City will indemnify resigning Filner, with some hedges
No Don.... It's your Jedi mind tricks which are no longer working. Trying to make us believe Filner was a victim of the "cabal" is something even George Lucas' imagination would have never found creditable.— August 24, 2013 9:50 p.m.
City will indemnify resigning Filner, with some hedges
Indirectly???? You don't give yourself, or the The Reader credit. How bout this/your blog? You've been such a fanboy towards Filner here. And that doesn't count the hundreds if not well over a thousand comments since this fiasco began. In all you portrayed Filner as the victim of the cabal of downtown overlords who, as you imply, control our very lives. This, of course, is nonsense. Filner is the victim of his own documented acts. While the communication, albeit indirectly, is definitely present. All ones needs to do is read Filner's farewell pontificating. Filner nearly, if not actually, uses the same language you have used. Is he quoting Bauder? Who knows for sure. But there's no doubt in my mind indirect communication has occurred.— August 24, 2013 7:15 a.m.
How Goldsmith tries the Filner case on TV
Really Don....you keep on bringing this up. Too bad it's from ....what .... 27...that's right twenty-seven years ago. In today's culture that's ancient history. Especially since nothing happening since. Not to even mention, as you mentioned they reconciled. Talk about grasping at straws. It doesn't come close to the behavior of the Mayor's "monster"; even going after volunteer great-grandmother or his newest fiscal transgressions.— August 17, 2013 10:04 p.m.
Head of U-T's streaming TV network leaves job
Our worst nightmare coming true....say it ain't so Burwell.— August 17, 2013 9:51 p.m.
Palace coup? Filner could be locked out
Wow that so dramatic! Go broke? Huh? How could he go broke he has multiple pensions. And we all know from the O.J. Simpson trials, pensions under California law, are exempt from garnishments.— August 15, 2013 5 p.m.
Hard Rock Hotel investors lose appeal of fraud suit
But isn't that true about most rulings nowadaze. Seems following the law is really about how I interpret it to fit the times, rather than the intent of the original legislation. Which, of course, is all about judicial activism. One thing going for the plaintiffs... The ninth is the most overturned judicial body in the country.— August 13, 2013 9:24 p.m.
Was Filner's office bugged by long distance microphone?
That's former lawyer Bill Lerach who was disbarred in 2009 after pleding guilty to felony obstruction of justice charges in 2007. While he may still have a boatload of wealth, is this the guy you want representing your cause?— August 13, 2013 10:59 a.m.
