C is for Cookie
Fish, it's cool that you do that. Us non-bakers appreciate it. And, since I had a stepdad that was a mailman, he often brought home treats like that given to him by the folks on his route. Boy, we were some Jews that loved us some Christmas time! PP: Double stuff Oreos are better. But, I've come to the conclusion that I just don't care for the crunchier cookies as much. And, Hydrox aren't as good as Oreo's, wouldn't you agree? When I say I don't like Famous Amos, I should explain. I'm referring to those little packages, with those tiny, hard cookies. If they make other cookies, and have a stand in the mall like Mrs. Fields, I'm not aware of it. But I'm sure those cookies would be good, too. (I think that guy had a funny cameo on Taxi once...Jim might've been stoned and craving cookies, and had a vision that he was visited by him). I've had the Keebler Grasshoppers, and they're great. A few of the cookie companies have gotten some good mint flavored cookies, realizing they were missing out on the Thin Mint market! The best ice cream thing out right now, is the Toll House thing. Can't remember what it's called, but it looks like the Chipwiche (which was also awesome). I've tried a few of the Pepperidge Farm brands, and didn't care for them. I think the make a waffer cookie that isn't half bad. I see ads for Biff's in Hillcrest, but I've never seen it in Hillcrest. If I do, I'll stop and try it. I know the cupcake places my girlfriend and I have tried, we're ALWAYS disappointed by. Cookie places, we're usually happy with!— September 24, 2009 10:55 a.m.
Shotski!
Rickey...gotta say...this is one of the rare posts by you that doesn't work.— September 24, 2009 10:44 a.m.
This. And That.
First off...how can you be a Pirates fan and a Raiders fan? Shouldn't you like the Steelers and Pirates? Or the Angels and Raiders? This is exactly why Charger fans get annoyed by you people. You like the Raiders for the wackiest reasons. And although the Raiders clearly beat the Chargers in that game...they have the worst QB in football. And as Surf states above...they won't finish better than 8-8.— September 24, 2009 12:45 a.m.

Well, you know what happens on those things? I ask the person first if I can video them. So many people refuse. When someone says yes, I'm thrown for a loop. And I think it's a bit awkward to point the Flip camera at their face, and spend 7 seconds turning the thing on, while they're standing there feeling awkward, with that fake smile we all have plastered on our face during photographs. So I instead turn it on, while it's facing the ground. Or off to the side a bit, but usually towards their feet. When it's running, I zoom up towards their face. This way, they are well aware the camera is going. It's their little cue, without me saying "action" or something goofy like that. That means we sometimes get a shot of the chest. Or the legs. But more often, the shoes.— September 24, 2009 12:43 a.m.
Driving Pet Peeves
Listen, I'll be the first to admit I'm a hypocrit in these regards. I think most personalized license plates are goofy, yet both my cars have them. I think most bumper stickers are goofy, yet my first car (Mustang), had a Zeppelin, Beatles, Doors, and Who bumper sticker. My second car (also a Mustang), had a Doors sticker, a goofy license plate frame that said "Sex, Drugs, and Basketball". My Porsche had two stickers of the radio station I was working at. One on each side of the bumper. Later to be replaced (when we were fired), by a Joe Walsh sticker (because it was silver, the same color as the car). One of my cars now is free of stickers. The other has a couple, but not so many that it overwhelms. You're right, Fish. I don't think someone gets a bumper sticker and says "This will make my Lexus look that much better." But, it makes nice cars look crappy. My liberal lawyer friend, has this sweet, red convertable Audio. She had an Obama/Biden sticker, which looked cool during election time (because of the red/blue color combo). Now she has a Dodger sticker. And it's not just the fact that I hate the Dodgers, but the fact that it's shiny and silver, and just looks weird on the bumper. I do think it would be funny if someone had a Bentley or Rolls, and a bumper sticker that said "My other car is a Pinto" or something like that.— September 24, 2009 12:35 a.m.
Going to the Chapel
For some reason, when I try to think of a title for these blogs, song lyrics always seem to pop into my brain.— September 24, 2009 12:29 a.m.
Fun Football Stories
There's no defense in the league that can contain those two backs. Only an injury to Peterson (which has happened his first few ears), will muck things up.— September 24, 2009 12:28 a.m.
Fun Football Stories
Nice to hear from ya, Fred. And with a comment that knocks it out of the park. Nice. Pete...I think Favre is one of the best QBs in football history. I think the last 4 years, he's been a QB that makes bad decisions, and throws too many interceptions. I think the Vikes will make the playoffs because Favre will do exactly what's needed of him (I think). And that's not make a bunch of big mistakes, hand the ball off to Peterson (and Chester Taylor on occasion), and step out of the way! Regarding the Bengals fans, that's classic. Thank you so much for posting that. I had no idea. I gotta say, as much as I hate Chad Ochocinco, I like that move. He rewarded some of his fans and tweet followers, with tickets. Although, I think the Bengals should fine him. Or explain to him how that crap is more of a distraction to the team.— September 23, 2009 10:31 p.m.
Response to: Kissing Cousins (errr, mothers) and Interracial Dating
Well Fish...maybe I just love giving to charity. And looking at freaky arm photos! When I was in radio, the dude I was doing the morning show with parked in a handicapped spot when we went out and did a live bit. He wanted our boss to pay the ticket, since it was "for the radio station." He was laughed out of the office. If I had money, it would be more than $100 to charity! Although, if rickey is smart...he'd pick a charity that benefits people with goofy looking arms. I'm sure there's some kind of charity out there like that. There is for everything else. Russ: I love that Louie song. Although my brother Lewis always played it on 8-Track, which got annoying. And I like that Janis Ian song, although I like her "At 17" a bit more. I caught her in town a few years ago at Acoustic Music in Normal Heights. Great show. She has a new song called "Folk is the New Black" which is amazing. SD...I only brought you up in this thread, because you brought up my blogs and "joyous racism". As usual, you bring nothing to the table in this debate or on interracial dating. For someone that's so book smart, you gots a lot to learn.— September 23, 2009 4:41 p.m.
Dark City
You know what's funny? The Reader ran an ad recently, showing three horrible movies (one being Whoopis nun movie...the second one; and Ben Afflecks Gigli. both were trashed by every critic in America). The ad said that Duncan gave these films black dots and that you could have a black spot party watching the horrible films. Which sounds like a fun idea, much the way Mystery Sciene Theatre, or Beavis & Butthead did, while watching bad videos. But herein lies the problem. He gave Dark City a star. This is a movie that Roger Ebert voted best of the year, when it came out. A very interesting sci-fi film (okay, it may lose it's way a bit near the ending)...but such interesting characters played by Keifer Sutherland as the stuttering scientist, and Jennifer Connelly as the sultry jazz singer, Rufus Sewell, looking like a better version of Eric Bogosian. A film that's worthy of renting.— September 23, 2009 4:31 p.m.
