Lifting Weights and Conducting Batons -- Both Can Be Dangerous
Can you imagine the conductor having to tell people at parties how he got hurt? I remember interviewing a comedian named Ritch Shydner. He was hysterical. Did a great routine about men having jeeps and going off-roading. He had a broken leg when he came into the radio station I was working, and said he got it by buying a new motorcycle, and going to ride it for the first time. He left the kickstand down, the bike twirled a couple times, like some two-wheeled parawet was going on... (did I spell that even remotely close?)— October 3, 2009 1:52 a.m.
Lifting Weights and Conducting Batons -- Both Can Be Dangerous
Yeah...well...who do you blame for the conductor, the cello player?— October 2, 2009 5:11 p.m.
Little Feat
Yeah, well...that's what's so strange. His cover for that Zappa album is great. Yet, something about those stupid ducks on Little Feat albums, just bugged.— October 2, 2009 9:07 a.m.
C is for Cookie
When my grandmother was alive, there was some bus that took her from LA to Barona, so I'd always meet her there. And I gotta say, the dessert section of Barona rocks! They had real ice cream. Nothing I hate more than the crappy soft serve that so many buffets have. Now, good soft serve at Dairy Queen or somewhere, is fine. But those buffets...never good. You have to pile on the chocolate chips or M&Ms to give it some good chocolate flavor. Never had a marzipan, though.— October 2, 2009 9:04 a.m.
Little Feat
Is there a more fun album than Dixie Chicken? I never did care for those album covers, though. (I believe, also, that's how the Dixie Chicks got their name).— October 2, 2009 1:20 a.m.
Stop and Smell the Roses (And Leave a Tip for Joshua Bell)
I think it would've been funny, if someone recognized the instrument and not him. They could say "I see you're working for tips. I'll give you $200 for that Stratovarious you're playing."— October 2, 2009 1:16 a.m.
Polanski Children Center -- Celebrity Idiots in the News
On a funny side note, I've heard a few comedians and TV shows say that it was a set-up. Jimmy Kimmel said they told Roman he was going to get a Soul Train award, and when he showed up, they arrested him.— October 1, 2009 7:38 p.m.
California in My Rearview Mirror
I think her suspicion of him trying to kill her was right on. But I agree with the other posts. Once you find out one lie, you confront. How hard would it be, for her to casually sip some lemonade on the porch, while he's talking to his friend? He'd obviously, move to another area. And she can follow. When he snaps at her (which he would), she could say "Why do you care if I overhear some of your conversation with your old friend Bob?" She let the stuff go on way longer than it needed to. I give her credit for catching EVERY SIGN in the book...the late night excuses, the proclamations about no sex, etc etc. But for letting it go by one day after her first noticing this, was silly. And this is why women end up with guys that kill them. It's like they just let it happen.— October 1, 2009 4 p.m.
Polanski Children Center -- Celebrity Idiots in the News
The above post goes down as the post of the year. Bravo! Nice theory on the high profile case. From what I understand, they tried to get Roman a few times, and they weren't able to. So, they saw this opportunity and jumped on it. I heard KFIs afternoon radio show (john and jeff, or whatever their names are), reading the transcripts of what that girl said. And, Whoopi was wrong. She said it was "consensual" (even though she doesn't realize...if the girl is under 18, and the guy is over 18...that's why they have statutory rape laws, because a child can't consent to having sex with an adult). But she kept telling him no. And, she said she was afraid to do anything, because he was an adult and nobody else was at the home.— October 1, 2009 3:50 p.m.
L.A. Stories
Nell...one more thing. The story on this LA trip ended up being over 8,000 words, and each column is about 1,200 words. So, I already had to make it in parts. And that didn't give me a lot of time to talk about Morrison and the specifics of the concert. Here's a link to the blog I was referring to, where people don't appreciate music: http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/daily-crash…— October 1, 2009 10:42 a.m.
