We're Not in Kansas Anymore
That's hysterical.— May 28, 2008 1:24 a.m.
Yer Mom!
I saw that sex tape (for, uh, journalistic reasons). Gene never took his shirt off. I wonder if he's conscious of his weight. Also, he had Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love is," playing in the background. What is he thinking? A cheesy ballad like that? Sure, he doesn't want to play one of Kiss' songs like Love Gun or Calling Dr. Love, but still. How about some Marvin Gaye or Al Green? And, in the clip of the video I saw....we never saw the famous tongue make an appearance.— May 27, 2008 1:21 a.m.

I'll go. Call my # at the Reader (619-235-3000 ext 421), give me the details.— May 27, 2008 1:18 a.m.
I Was Speeding, But...
What often happens with cops and lawsuits, is hardcore extremes. For example, the PERFECT thing I heard, was that cop in Oceanside that shot up that ladies car, with her 4-year-old son in it. The lawyer representing the son, is suing for $150,000. That, to me, seems like THE PERFECT amount. It isn't $20 million. It's a nice, decent sum, for a kid taken two bullets, that were unnecessary. Now, step two. That cop needs to be fired. Simple as that. Even if the woman was drunk, on drugs, and not supposed to be driving (which I believe were the reports that have come out). That doesn't give someone the right to go roadrage on them. The cop should be fired. She should have her child taken away from her (for obviously endangering and being a bad parent). But, I guarantee, it won't go down like that. The police will want to defend their guy. Not because they think he was right, or they feel they need to do that. But if they don't, they know when another lawsuit is filed, it will hurt their case. Because, them firing him, "admits guilt".— May 26, 2008 12:09 p.m.

Instead of Brahms, how about Vivaldi's Mandolin Concerto? Yes on Scrabble, too. Hey...was Leland Sklar really in Toto? That's a trip. That guy played bass on every 70s album I own. He gets around.— May 25, 2008 1:20 p.m.
Idiots from I-15 to 7-11
Regarding health clubs, I have no problem with companies having some goofy sales pitch. It's up to people to be smart enough to look passed it. In high school, I had a different chain, give me this hardcore pitch when I went in. They spent 20 minutes, and wouldn't let me leave. So, as an adult, when I went to 24 Hour Fitness, LA Fitness, and Bally's, I'd walk in. I'd tell them I'm looking for a place with indoor basketball, racquetball courts, and a pool. I told them I didn't want the pitch and all the crap about "If you don't sign up today, it will be $150 more tomorrow, or next week, or whatever." And, they just showed me around the facilities, and gave me the prices. It worked out fine. It doesn't bother me that they do different things, like after the holidays, they probably have people cold call and say, "Wanna lose all those extra pounds you had from those turkey dinners?" It's business. It's just up to you, when you get a call, to not spend 20 minutes and get frustrated. Politely get them off the phone, and no harm done.— May 25, 2008 1:13 p.m.

Well, my stepbrother gives me a hard time, because I'll often tip the waiter/waitress, based on liking their personality. They could bring the wrong meals, or whatever. Because, to me, bringing me the wrong food, is no biggie. Very rarely am I in a hurry when I eat at a restaurant, so that doesn't bother me. I've had some waiters that were great, but they weren't very friendly. And, I still end up tipping them well, because the service was great. So, the only way a waiter/waitress gets a bad tip, or no tip, is if the service sucks, as does their personality. And my logic there is...I don't care that they aren't being paid enough. I was at the doctors office about a year ago, and this nurse was joking about how I go to parties and write about them. She said her son wished he had that job. She told me he was a waiter at Claim Jumper. And, she was telling me what he makes on tips. I think she said on Saturday nights, he can bring home $500 cash. That's on top of his minimum wage. I think in the long run, they make the money they deserve.— May 25, 2008 11:27 a.m.

I remember her saying that. But I never agreed with it. I think if you leave a nickel or dime, it can give the wait staff the oppurtinity to think you're just a cheap b******— May 25, 2008 2:33 a.m.

Nicely said, Fred. I'm down for that. Fumber...just post the details here, and we'll all "crash" the party. If your mom is cool with having people over, that is.— May 24, 2008 12:29 p.m.

Towelhead...if you're a woman, I'm going to be so mad. For some reason, women seem to get out of traffic tickets. Sometimes they cry. Sometimes they flirt. I'm convinced a woman could curse a cop out, and still get off with just a "warning." A friend of mine did the online traffic school. He said that he assumed it would be a breeze. But, you have to be at your computer every 15 minutes or so, because they have a way of checking up on you.— May 23, 2008 9:40 p.m.
