Got Smart
The funniest part of the movie was Clooney smashing something (I won't say what, for fear of spoiling). Not sure why Duncan says he has a dislike for actors: Malkovich, Pitt, and Clooney. Sure, most of the movies they do might suck...but most actors have still done something you love them in (try Pitt in A River Runs Thru It, or 12 Monkeys; Clooney in Out of Sight, etc). This movie is good. Not great. But...the Coehns occasionally give us turkeys (ie Ladykillers, The Man Who Wasn't There), so I'm glad this film was enjoyable. And I loved the ending.— September 18, 2008 9:35 a.m.
Chargers and Referees
UPDATE: The NFL now says they WILL NOT mark Ed Hachuli down, since he admitted and apologized, for his mistake. I have no problem with that. I just hope in the future, they worry more about getting the call right.— September 17, 2008 10:52 a.m.
Bodies in Trunks and Many White Horses
It didn't occur to me, until after I wrote all that, that she could be Native American. I guess with a son like James, I just thought the woman had hippie parents or something. She should change the name of her kid to "Sleeps In Trunk". And her name to "Many Years In Prison."— September 17, 2008 1:16 a.m.
Chargers and Referees
Thanks Paul and trestles, for the clarifications. I know a lot of that. I think, basically, the NFL needs to just say the bottom line is this: we don't want to review EVERYTHING and have games be six hours long. But, we don't want to blow a crucial call. Therefore, we'll have the guy upstairs (not god, but the ref in the press box) watch everything, as the viewers at home get to see, with it all being replayed. And, if that ref can quickly correct a wrong, we'll do it.— September 17, 2008 1:13 a.m.
None
a2z...how do you owe someone a T-bird? And graham...that's a good point. I thought his answer was bizarre, and his enthusiasm answering it was funny. After his answer, he still talked for another 20 minutes. I wanted to say to him, "I'm white, and have never been to the desert." Which is true.— September 16, 2008 10:14 a.m.
Disneyland -- The Happiest Place on Earth
I don't know why anything was shut down. I didn't ask anyone. I figure those are kids making minimum wage, and who knows if their info would even be accurate. Although, I did wonder if in the paper the next day, it would say someone was decapitated on a roller coaster. Instead, just a train accident because someone decided to text instead of, uh, drive the train. Yeah, anti, I think women on dating sites, probably realize guys are picky about weight. And, if they have a pretty face, they want to show that. They figure that, and a great personality, is enough to get a guy to overlook 40 extra pounds. The problem with that logic is...the guy then may be disappointed upon the meeting. And that would be uncomfortable for all involved.— September 16, 2008 1:27 a.m.
That '70s Party
Ya know, cops shut down parties for various reasons. Firefighters sometimes, for things that are deemed a "fire hazard." So, if there's a "fire extinguisher fight," what would fire marshals have to say on that? I mean, it's actually making things safer, isn't it?— September 16, 2008 1:21 a.m.
Octogenarian -- No, it's not a Bond film.
That...was perhaps the best post ever. First....to the previous post. The problem I have with Anna Nicole's husband doing all the paperwork to keep her out of the will. Do we know he was of sound mind? Or that it wasn't the kid pulling the strings on that one? Not to mention, why would a court overrule that? Okay, well, here's the thing with you calling it "ageism." If that's so bad, please, don't have ANY sympathy, when you hear about an old person that comes out of their bank, and gives $10,000 to someone with a fake lottery ticket. Or, when they open their door to someone that looks like a real plumber. Tells them they need to check their toilet, then asks for their credit card number, and gets it. Seriously. If old people keep doing this stuff, then...hey, according to your logic, it goes with the territory. They're old. But they can still make their own decisions. I don't think there's ANYTHING wrong, with kids being worried about their wealthy parents blowing money, on some woman that merely wants that money. I hate hearing stories about kids being upset their parents want to vacation and travel the world, in their old age. Simply because they'd rather the money not be "wasted". That's sick. Let your parents enjoy the golden years. Or, the parents that give a lot to their former college or a charity. Again, a nice deed. But, to give it to Anna Nicole, well..that gets the son typing up documents, and having dear old dad sign it.— September 12, 2008 2:28 a.m.
That '70s Party
Thanks pete. But, I've had enough women tell me, "Oh, I, uh...have to wash my hair that day," to know when I'm being blown off! I met a guy recently that said he was going to invite me to a party a few years back, but someone talked him out of it, saying that I could write some negative stuff about them, and it wasn't worth the risk. Could be something like that, who knows. Dang, I missed the extinguisher fight. Ever since I saw Letterman blast Richard Simmons with an extinguisher, I always thought it would be cool to see one in person.— September 12, 2008 2:20 a.m.
Octogenarian -- No, it's not a Bond film.
I didn't understand the Anna Nicole Smith thing to be that way. I thought it was that rich guys son, that had the will changed, so that Smith wouldn't get anything. But you could be right. And Ponzi, that's a great point. I initially thought the same thing, but by the time I sat down to blog about it, I completely forgot that point. Yeah, Towel, I totally thought about that. And I understand there could be cases like that. Then, I guess it's up to the 58 year old to not marry someone that is that old and could die. Unless she has assets and money herself. Or, while they are married, she can discuss being "taken care of", and he can give her money then, that she can invest or sock away, in case of the death. Just for that very reason. That would keep any "slippery slope" from happening.— September 11, 2008 10:19 a.m.
