NBA -- Playoffs and Personalities
Spliff, time and time again, you amaze me with your idiotic leaps. I'm not saying Jud Buechler would've been happier playing for the Clippers and NOT winning the rings he won with the Bulls. What I'm saying is...whether he even knows this or not...he would've been happier having a 15 year NBA career, averaging 20 points, 10 rebounds a game, making a few All-Star appearances, and making 30 million more than he did....as oppose to the 4 rings he won, his average of 4 points a game, and the 4 million he made from the NBA (on that last sentence, I'm just speculating on those numbers). And yes, Magic did tick me off sometimes. Like when he gave Nick Van Exel a hard time for pushing a ref, and then he pushed a ref a week later! He only talked smack on the court, in response to what another player said. And, I watched most of his games from 1980 on, when he joined the Lakers as a rookie and brought them a championship that year.— June 10, 2009 4:10 p.m.
Pop Corn, Red Vines, Bon Bons or Beer?
I remember as a kid, being so excited to sit in the parents old Ford Pinto station wagon, excited to be watching a movie thru the windshield...only to fall asleep and miss 3/4 of it (oh..the days of being 7). I'd wake up as my dad was carrying me into the house.— June 10, 2009 4:04 p.m.
Hooray for Hollywood
Okay, then I'll trust you. In the "university setting" are you telling me that you hear "both sides" discussed? That half of professors are Republican, and half Democrats? Or, that most don't even discuss politics, if the class they're teaching doesn't relate to the subject. And, having that much experience in the teaching profession, are you also telling me (as per the argument in another thread) that bad schools have bad teachers? And good schools in good neighborhoods, are that way because they have all the good teachers? If so, I can shoot that argument down pretty easily.— June 10, 2009 4:01 p.m.
Letters
Hey...why did we not mention after the Adam Lambert letter... that we did run a positive article on him. It was in the blurt section last week (and can still be found on this site)— June 10, 2009 3:58 p.m.

I won't address all of your ramblings, but a few points: The reason you might not ever see a Chun Lee or Pedro, Garcia for President is (and, here's one of those facts that you love so much)...you have to be born in the U.S. to become President. It's why Arnold could never run. Yes, I understand there are Garcias and Lees that were born here. And they may some day become President (not sure if you heard about the new Supreme Court Justice). Not worth the time to debate you on 9/11. But on the subject of planes...you're the type of person that, sitting next to on a plane (or in a movie theatre) would be torture. I think I'd rather have a terrorist sitting next to me with a box cutter!— June 10, 2009 11:14 a.m.
King of Late Night (and other things)
Hey andrea, nice to see ya around again. I guess you could say it's Carradines "women" that had the open mind!!! I am just baffled when a persons family can't conceive of them committing a crime, or being involved in something weird. I think a person can die, and their diary/journal could be filled with crazy stuff, they could have photos and videos of crazy stuff...and a family would still be in denial. But once they start insisting on FBI investigations, they better be ready to foot that bill.— June 10, 2009 11:08 a.m.
Hooray for Hollywood
SD...are you saying, you don't think universities, in the classroom, knock Republicans? Trust me, professors are probably 90% liberal, and they push that take on their students.— June 10, 2009 11:05 a.m.
Idiotic Football Players
People gravitate towards who they want to gravitate towards. We don't live in a time where scenarios play out like some after school special. I remember hearing that people and peer pressure would force me to do drugs. The first time I went to parties in high school and someone lit up a J, I got nervous. When it was passed to me, I declined a toke. And nobody cared. Hell, they were probably glad they didn't have to share their weed with me (I know at least two friends were always happy about that). I grew up in Mira Mesa, and there has always been a few gangs there. A remember a bunch of Latinos in one called Mesa Verde Flats. There were a few Asian gangs. And I see the younger generations now, with a lot of Asians that seem to be into the cars they race illegally. But, are you telling me that some Asian student at Mira Mesa High School, just wouldn't feel comfortable enough hanging around with....say, the chess club, the athletes, drama department, or science fair crowd...and so they instead go to the parking lot of In-and-Out Burger, where everyone has their cars ready to go to the next racing location. Sorry, it doesn't happen like that. Regarding teachers, I was talking with a teacher earlier today. I told her a little about this debate, and she laughed. She said that rickeysays was right. The biggest misconception is that bad schools have bad teachers. She said, "Teachers are just like any profession. There are bad ones, good ones, mediocre ones. Just like there are with police, fire fighters, letter carriers, plumbers, or any profession. So, a bad school in a bad neighborhood, has a few good teachers, a few bad teachers, and a few mediocre ones. Just like the schools in Del Mar, Torrey Pines, or Rancho Sante Fe. The only difference might be, the teachers in those nicer schools are probably enjoying their job a lot more. But that doesn't mean the teachers in the bad schools are just showing up and going thru the motions."— June 10, 2009 1:34 a.m.
NBA -- Playoffs and Personalities
NBA UPDATE: The Orlando Magic actually won a game. Who saw that coming? And Kobe missed some key free-throws and had a few turnovers late in the game that hurt them. But, who can blame him? He's being playing MVP basketball. I doubt the Magic wins another game.— June 10, 2009 1:26 a.m.
Pop Corn, Red Vines, Bon Bons or Beer?
Oh, that painting scene blew me away! It was so beautifully shot. It was a shame that after that scene, it quickly went down hill. And yes, those little boxes in drive-thru's were interesting. I seem to recall my dad spending 10 minutes trying to figure out the best way to hang it from the window. And...these were days before cars all came with cup holders. Not sure what the folks did with their drinks.— June 10, 2009 1:22 a.m.
