LeBron James -- Bad Sport?
LEBRON BAD SPORT UPDATE: Supposedly, a high school kid dunked over LeBron (two handed, no less). Reports are that he immediately talked to someone from Nike, who went over to the cameraman filming, and they confiscated the tape. The cameraman speculates that LeBron didn't want this getting out on the internet. I'm not sure I even believe that story. If it's true, Lebron is an idiot. It wouldn't have been hard for him to just say "Yeah, that kid was good," and give him props. Or, he could easily say, "Come on, this is my basketball camp. I'm playing with high school and middle school kids. I'm going about 15% when I play defense. What fun would it be for me to block every shot a kid puts up?"— July 9, 2009 3:36 p.m.
BREAKING NEWS BLOG -- Michael Jackson and Farrah Die
The idiot at CityBeat is a good writer. Although, many of her columns are weak, because she just rants about politics or something about her personal life that just isn't interesting. Her latest has to do with how she'd have sex with two different pro tennis players (nice for her husband and kid to read). And how a guy spoiled the ending of a tennis match. Yet, she's talking about cheering loudly, in a gym, watching tennis from a previous day. What kind of fan does this? Well, someone that wants attention. They want people to ask "Oh..what are you watching?" or "Oh, you're a tennis fan, too? So am I." Go home and watch the game if you're a fan, don't create a scene in a gym, where people go to work out (and then get mad because someone "ruined" a game from two days earlier). I have no problem with criticism. The problem is you just do it when it's that time of the month. Or because something I wrote isn't what your instructor at the writing class told you at your community college. Otherwise, you'd answer my question. The comment you claimed made you "gasp" and made you "almost cry"...was my comment on The Cosby Show being a positive show for African-Americans. You've yet to tell me why it wasn't. Also, you mentioned something about people "following me around" on this website. Well...you're the leader of that. So instead of making fun of them for adding interesting points to the things I write, or them knocking me when they disagree...why don't you just disappear? Go post on CityBeats website, if they have one. I'm sure you'll have lots of interesting dialog with the one or two people that go there.— July 9, 2009 3:33 p.m.
The Michael Jackson Funeral
I wonder how much ANY ONE will get in his will, after creditors are all paid off.— July 9, 2009 3:17 p.m.
None
I saw a Forensic Files a few months back. A lady in her 60s or 70s, was murdered. A few things were stolen from her hotel room. They had no leads. But, they eventually caught the old black maintence man that worked at the hotel. He had some of her stuff in his trunk, but what keyed them in...was that he had this infection on his knuckle that got so bad, doctors almost thought about amputating. The doctor explained how if you punch someone (even though that's not a bite), that can often happen when the tooth scrapes your hand. And, this guy had knocked a few of her teeth out (of course, his family is claiming he's innocent...even though he had a previous record).— July 9, 2009 3:15 p.m.
Letters
MsGrant, your rants here are just plain ridiculous. You start things off by saying that a review got the owners and patrons so mad it actually "increased business." That's one of those lame lines, like when a person gets mad and threatens to "contact their attorney." Yeah, right. I'm sure movie critics that pan bad films also get people so angry that they....they...go to the movie immediately, just to prove them guys wrong! Let's go see a bad movie, just to show those stuffy, pretentious critics we will! Yeah, that's what people do when they see bad reviews. They immediately flock to the place, just to prove the reviewer wrong. I've eaten at Red Sails five times. None of the experiences were good (although I loved the view). I asked my friend, who at the time was the head of the Harbor Police (right down the street). I asked if he liked Red Sails (as I didn't want him to be influenced by me saying I hated it). He got a weird look on his face and he said, "I really don't know." I laughed, before he explained that he ate their often, and never once got a sandwich he liked. But he enjoyed going with his co-workers, and he got to know the staff and liked them. Now, how does one mess up a sandwich at lunchtime? Well, Red Sails found a way to do that. I wouldn't chalk up my opinion on their food to anything, though, since I rarely order sea food (or...as you said in some insane rant, "I only eat at Fridays,"....I'm still not sure where you came up with that one; it would be news to the folks I ate with at Marine Room the other night). On a side note, I was once eating there and bought my mom a gift certificate for Mothers Day (as I had gotten her tickets for the Neville Brothers at Humphrey's and thought that would be a nice little thing for her to enjoy). She had problems when she went there with them giving her the proper change and even accepting the thing (although, in full disclosure, when I contacted them a few days later to complain, they totally hooked me up with a free meal, and offered my parents another free meal, too). They declined. They said the food there wouldn't be worth it, even for free. So, I believe this shows that you were wrong on Red Sails. Tell your friends that own it you're sorry, you tried your best. (although, using your logic...the place will now be packed this weekend)— July 9, 2009 10:51 a.m.
Stupid Cops and the Stupid People That Hate Cops
Why wouldn't you file a reporter afterwards? Let this officers bosses know about what happened. Obviously, if what you say happened did happen, and this cop was out of line...I doubt Internal Affairs would just brush your complaint aside. I mean, it's not like the cop would lose his job on one complaint, but you never know. It may be the 5th time they've heard that same thing, and may be the straw that breaks the camels back.— July 9, 2009 10:29 a.m.
BREAKING NEWS BLOG -- Michael Jackson and Farrah Die
A few other things I thought of MsGrant: How is my "stupid little world" one that you ASSume doesn't let me see all sides of things? Did I have to grow up in a ghetto to see how people are treated there? As I've said before, I've had two black girlfriends. And with one, I saw stares from red-neck racist types. Even heard a comment or two. I'd love to debate any issues you may have with me, but again, I think you're just a childish idiot, that isn't interested in real debate on issues. But, to clarify my comment on THE COSBY SHOW, since others may read this and wonder what I meant...I'll give you one example (because idiots like antigeek claim I never put links to my sources). I recently finished reading a book by Tim Reid (venus flytrap on WKRP in Cincinnati). He mentions how important the Cosby Show was for blacks (he's one of many that has). And he said he was thrilled when Cosby sent him a telegram saying "bravo" after his show (forget the title...it only lasted one season), about a black family that ran a funeral home in New Orleans. On a side note, I found it odd that Cosby wasn't a fan of All in the Family. I believe he said the things Archie said just weren't good to put out there. Although, I think most people would disagree with Cosby, as it showed people how idiotic Archie was in his views and the things that came spewing out of his pie hole. Just because he occasionally did nice things (for his family) didn't make him a nice person. And I believe that Tim Reid, and many African-Americans felt, before The Cosby Show...if blacks where the main characters on a show, they were yelling things like "Dyno-mite!!!" or What's Happenin'. Just basic stereotypes of certain characters. Although, I think The White Shadow didn't have any stereotypes (other than the obvious, as it involved a basketball team), and that was a good show as well. But MsG, you want to act like that idiot over at CityBeat, and freak out about my comments without even rationally thinking about them. Or why I've said them. Good day! - - - - - - - I SAID GOOD DAY!!!— July 9, 2009 1:25 a.m.

BREAKING NEWS BLOG -- Michael Jackson and Farrah Die
MsGrant...you are insane. My comment on Bill Cosby is based on things I've heard African-American people say on shows. They claimed that this show was such a wonderful thing to have out there, because it wasn't African-Americans that were "urban". So, for you to act like what I said was so outrageous, really doesn't make sense. Please explain to me how it does, and what is wrong with that statement. And just the fact that you even feel SpliffAdams has anything of relevance to say, shows your ignorance. I thought you said you were done reading my blogs. Please, be done already. And, if you want to talk about idiotic statements, let's start with your statement about a "womans right to change their mind," or whatever idiotic thing that was. I wanted to cry. You see, that makes it sound like women are these emotional creatures that can't just have debate and dialog on issues, but instead get angry, lash out, scream and throw a fit...and then they come crawling back like a baby, because, well...as you put it so well..."that's their right." And, you probably get mad when guys ask if it's "that time of the month." Geez. Invest in a psychiatrist already. I'm sure your 60 year old husband can afford one.— July 9, 2009 12:54 a.m.
The Michael Jackson Funeral
I liked seeing that list. I know all those songs, but geez, most of the videos I can't really remember. And when MTV first came on the scene, I often watched it. I was surprised, at the YES concert tonight, the keyboard player of Asia turned out to be the keyboardist of The Buggles (first ever MTV video). So, they performed Video Killed the Radio Star. It was cool. Anyway...back to Michael Jackson. I just heard the city of L.A. spent millions on everything. Can't they bill the Jackson estate for that?— July 9, 2009 12:47 a.m.
